There are a lot of scene changes in this volume. Bear with me folks!

X6 opens with Kamui promising Kotori that he will use his powers to protect her. (With Arashi and Sora watching from a distance). The romantic moment is shattered though when Kamui feels a sakura-petal brush his cheek, and then a torrent of them. Arashi and Sorata rush in to help, but Kamui and Kotori are pulled into an illusion by the Sakurazukamori. Kamui steps protectively in front of Kotori, and gets wounded several times trying to protect her. Kamui and Seishirou fight for quite a while, with Kamui fending him off very well, but eventually the battle turns, and Kamui loses his grip on Kotori. As Seishirou moves to finish them both off, Fuuma suddenly appears from nowhere and shields them both from the attack. Seishirou is very surprised by this, and leaves, dissolving the illusion. Kamui, Fuuma, and Kotori land back in the street.

Kamui tries to awaken the unconscious Kotori, when Fuuma suddenly grabs him, mumbling his father's last words over and over. Kamui yells at him, trying to awaken him from the trance, but Fuuma's eyes are dead. Only Kotori awakening nearby awakens Fuuma, who acts like he has no idea what has just happened. Kotori freaks out over Kamui's wounds, Kamui assures her that he is fine and then gets up to leave.

Down the street a little ways, Sorata and Arashi watch over them all, wondering what the motives of the Sakurazukamori are, and decide that they should seek out the head of the Sumeragi clan.

At Sunshine 60, the bioengineers discuss their views on how Nataku is a perfect human, although he is man-made. But mostly that they were surprised when he returned to them covered in blood. They have also been studying the sword that Nataku has brought back with them, and have come to the conclusion that the sword is alive.

In downtown Tokyo, Arashi and Sorata stand at a telphone booth, trying to contact the head of the Sumeragi clan, and are surprised to learn that he is not in Kyoto, but in Tokyo, and he is there to fight the Sakurazukamori.

Back at Togakushi Kamui sits and berates hiself for somehow getting Kotori and Fuuma involved in the battle. Fuuma enters the room, re-assuring Kamui that Kotori is okay, and asking him to talk to him. Kamui is reluctant, so Fuuma tells him as long as he continues to protect Kotori, then he will protect Kamui.

In downtown Tokyo Subaru waits for the Sakurazukamori.

Kotori is dreaming again. As she stands in a large empty void, glass begins to fall from above. She catches a piece and is shocked to see that it is a piece of the earth. It cuts her and she drops it. The ground ripples and seven hooded and robed people rise before her eyes. She draws back in fear, but then runs to one of them as he reveals himself to be Kamui. He pulls away from her in pain as wings explode from his back. (Angelic wings). Kamui holds up his hand and Kotori runs to him in glee, as she hugs him, she looks down at the floor below and sees another reflection, only Kamui has bat wings. Kotori turns to the Kamui she is hugging and tries to pull away as he is staring at her with eyes fit to kill. She turns to the Kamui below her and begs for help, but he can only stare sadly back.

The angelic Kamui disappears and she falls through the water. As she opens her eyes she is surprised to see herself crucified on a steel cross. As she watches in horror, her other self is ripped apart by the wires holding her there. The cross dissolves and Kotori finds that she is falling. Below she sees the earth, and not wanting to collide with it, shatters herself.

Beneath the Diet Building Hinoto awakens from a disturbing dream. She has dreamed of that girl again, the one with only one future.

At Togakushi, Kamui and Fuuma argue about Kamui's silence when Fuuma suddenly lapses into a trance again. Kamui screams at him to wake up, which he finally does. When they both realize that someone is out in the yard. They throw open the door to find Tokiko's mangaled body lying on the doorstep. Kamui runs to her aid, but she assures him that this is her destiny and she will embrace it. She also tells them that since Kamui was too young to fend for himself, Fuuma and Kotori's mother took Tohru's palce and gave birth to the holy sword. Tokiko begins to chant, Kamui begs her to stop, but she pays him no heed and pulls the sword from her body, destroying herself in the process.

At the ed of X6 there is a special character omake that shows us the first time that Yuzuriha and Kusanagi meet. As Yuzuriha and Inuki are walking down the street, a boy comes up and tries to hit on Yuzuriha. She simply asks him if he can see her dog. When he answers no, she thanks him and moves off. She is only interested in someone who can see Inuki. As she walks along, Kusanagi walks up and pets Inuki on the head, calling him a good dog. Yuzuriha bursts into tears and runs into his arms. Kusanagi is very surprised.
