his
site has been designed to take advantage of some of the newer accessibility features built into
the HTML 4.0 specifications proposed by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C)
through the Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI).
"The power of the Web is in its universality. Access by everyone regardless of
disability is an essential aspect." -- Tim Berners-Lee, W3C Director and inventor
of the World Wide Web

have attempted to use things called
Access Keys
in regards to links where appropriate. You will find that the Access Key for a particular link will
be BOLD and UNDERLINED. In most cases I have also made the Access Key
same as the first character of the link where possible. Below are some examples:

FamIly Pics
I've found that currently, browsers DO NOT take advantage of this feature. I am not sure what the
future plans of Netscape and IE include however.

ne saving grace is that the TAB KEY in both Netscape 4.X and IE 3.X WILL move
the selection sequentially from one link to another as they are written into the page. Simply use the
TAB key to move forward through the links and use SHIFT-TAB combination to move backwards.

uthors and readers, please consider the following links to resources for making your
pages more accessible. It is also the responsibility of the readers to become more aware of what the new
features are so that they may be able to take adavantage of them and prod the authors to USE THEM!
