Marv Levy, the Bills Hall of Fame coach, is back again as GM of the Bills. What does this mean? I do not know if it will mean a better record yet but it certainly will result in press conferences with some of Marv's famous wit. Keep your dictionary handy.
The Bills are going through some rough times now and they need all of the support they can get. Ralph Wilson choose Marv Levy to steer us through these strong currents. Paddle strong Marv and we will follow.
When you see critical reports in Buffalo press, check the other articles of the writer. If it appears that his or her articles are almost always heavily slanted against the Bills (i.e. Jerry Sullivan), question whether the writer just has a beef with the Bills or is being an objective reporter.
One of the GREATEST running backs in the history of the game missed making the Hall of Fame so I am spared the agony of going with Dallass fans there this year. Thurman was an all purpose back - he could run power or finesse, block and catch like a WR. Without Thurman there could have been no K gun. He was the most complete back of our generation. He will be in the Hall of Fame but not in 2006.
Once again it is planning time and the NFL recommends that you
buy a
new winter coat. This year the Bills open with three straight AFC East
games, two of them on the road, so the NFL is certainly not taking it
easy on new head coach Dick Jauron and rookie GM Marv Levy. After that
shooting gallery which might determine the Bills fate in 2006, the
Bills face the NFC North with a game against the New England Patriots
once again after their bye week. If the Bills survive Murder's Row they
will have a little bit of a break for it includes 5 home games in 5
weeks before ending in Baltimore, the city of brotherly gouging *.
* Last year Ravens took all
tickets not sold via season tickets and only sold them IF they were
bought as part of an inflated tailgate package.
This schedule heavily favors home games late in the season for Buffalo and this may be a coincidence but was released after the new agreement was made between the haves and have-nots in NFL with the NFLPA. This schedule will certainly impact sales in Buffalo with very few teams with large fan bases going to Buffalo forcing the Bills fans to dig deep to fill the stadium. To some it would appear the NFL *wants* the Buffalo to not sell out their stadium so they do not need to provide funds agreed to by new contract.
It is Buffalo Bills game tailgate time again.
Jay Rosen (a.k.a. Jåy Ró§eñ on the stadium
wall) is buying tickets for the home opener game for the Stadium Wall
crew and it is open to everyone.
Opener tailgate will be held again at the World Famous (they have heard
of it in Australia and Germany) Hammer's
Lot for the sixth
consecutive year.
If you want to park in Hammer's Lot get there early for parking
fills up quickly with new 8 AM opening rule for stadium lots! Hammer
does not have such a 8 AM rule but he does have a vicious guard
dog named "Buddy" who patrols the lot watching out for your car!
Hammer's Lot has been googled: Link
With my new job comes shift and travel work and that includes working days, evenings, Saturdays and even football Sundays! I unfortunately will not be able to see as many games as I did in past and site updates will not be as frequent. Sorry to the few people who will miss the updates.
