Howdy! I'm Pokey. Or you may
call me "the Pokester" as Juliannah
does. I'm a white albino rat. I actually belong
to Erin, Juliannah's son. I was born in a pet
store and lived there until I was a few months
old. One day Erin & Juliannah came in and
Erin picked me to go home with them. They also
picked up an awesome cage, a neat wheel and some
really tasty food. I was still small then, but I
soon grew to be about 7 inches in length.
Now I know some people are a
bit squeamish when it comes to rodents, but I
assure you I am quite a gentleman. Even Juliannah
feel in love with me. But hey, what's not to
love? Erin and I soon became best friends. We do
everything together. We love to watch TV together
and listen to music. I get to go visit his
friends and play with them too. Erin taught me
how to do acrobatics. I hold onto his fingers and
he swings me around and I don't even fall off.
It's alot of fun! He even built me a maze to run
in. That was fun too. Sometimes we take naps
together. I just curl up beside him and go to
sleep. He likes to play video games and I like to
watch or curl up in his lap and take a nap. One
of my favorite things to do is go swimming in the
bath tub. Erin fills it up and I jump in a have a
blast. When I'm done, I have a nice fluffy, clean
coat again.
I have to be real careful
when the kittys are around. Juliannah says the
cats want to eat me for dinner.(I can't imagine
why!) Well I just stay near Erin and I know I am
safe. Still, It might be fun if we could all play
with each other. Maybe someday.
Some of the best times I
have had are on lake trips with Erin. I went
riding on the boat and swimming in the lake. I
found rocks to climb on and enjoyed sitting on
them and cleaning myself. One time there was alot
of bees there. Everyone was worried that I would
get stung. Well, one brave bee decided to fly
into my cage. I reached up and smacked him down.
No problem. No more bee. Since I am albino, my
eyes are sensitive to bright light. Erin always
keeps a towel over my cage during the day so the
sun doesn't hurt my eyes. He always takes really
good care of me. I truly am a "Lake
Rat".
Everybody that comes to our
house holds and plays with me except for Erin's
Grandma. When she sees me she goes the other way.
Gee wiz, I hope I didn't offend her. It's cool
Grandma, I still like you.
Well, thanks for visiting me
and be sure to check out my photos. I have some
nice lake pictures there. Hope you will sign our
pet's guestbook and come back anytime.
Juliannah was nice enough to
make these graphics just for me, so please do not
take them.

Unfortunately, last May
Pokey passed away. He had been ill for awhile, but
seem to be recovering. He was almost 2 years old
which is pretty much the life span of a rat. We
all miss him, especially Erin. We buried him in
our backyard and planted a pine tree over him,
which by the way was provided by Grandma. Pokey
had some wonderful adventures and gave us
wonderful memories. I am very proud of my son
Erin, for being a caring and loving pet owner. I
love you Erin!
