1999-12-23 Thursday

Kristin from Great Wall China Adoption called today at about 10:20am. She had said that we had our referral. They were sending them out, but wanted to call and let us know. She had four things to tell us.

Her name is Zheng Xing

This is pronounced something like Jeng Shing. Chinese names are written out as last name followed by first name. We went out on the Internet trying to find out what it meant. While we still don't know what Zheng means, Xing is Happy and Joyful.

Living at Gui Gang Orphanage

Gui Gang is pronounced something like Gooi Gong. Tammy said this was one of the best orphanages she's heard of from people on mailing lists.

Located in Guang Xi Province

Guang Xi is pronounced something like Goo-ang Shee. This is a southern autonomous region, one of five, in China which borders Viet Nam and the South China Sea.

She was born on the 3rd of June, 1999

This is just one day after our dossier was logged in China!

Tammy was at work, and so I called her. But, they said they only page her if it was an emergency. I decided that it wasn't. She's been wanting to keep it a secret at work, so, I just said I'd tell her later.

I typed up a page of the four items Kristin had told me and printed it off in an embarassingly large size.

Christmas Eve

Today the referral packet arrived via FedEx this morning just after 10am! We took a couple of pictures of the driver, and Tammy got to ask him if he knew that he was delivering a baby to us. He was quite surprised, and we gave him a copy of the referral picture. But we forgot to get his name.
