CAST: Madhuri , Shahrukh and Karishma
DIRECTION : Yash Chopra
Yash Chopra's Dil To Pagal Hai opened across India to a rousing reception. The story was a closely guarded secret. The film raised expectations and the initial draw was tremendous.
The film is about a love triangle. Rahul (Shahrukh Khan) is a director of musicals and has a small team. His lead female dancer Nisha (Karishma Kapoor) is in love with him, however, she never confronts him with her love. According to Rahul, they have a plutonic relationship. He is in process of making a new musical about a character called Maya who is Rahul's concept of an ideal girl.
Pooja (MADHURI DIXIT) is an orphan whose parents had died when she was young and was raised by a couple whom she called, "aunt" and "uncle". They raised her like their own daughter. She is also a dancer at a dance studio near where Rahul and his group rehearse.
Rahul and Pooja run into each other on a number of occasions. Once in a department store, while Nisha and Rahul are out shopping. He goes into the dressing room to try on a shirt. Sounds simple enough, but he forgets to put his pants on and walks out with his underwear. Pooja sees him but tries to avoid him, so as not to embarrass him. It was at that point where they switch their packages. Pooja had a birthday cake for her uncle and Rahul had some sandwiches for his group. So Rahul goes to return the cake, and meets uncle, but leaves before Pooja had a chance to thank him.
Rahul is a type of guy who doesn't believe in marriages at all. According to him, no two people can share everything for the rest of their lives and is very cynical about the traditional ways of "Indianhood".
Whereas Pooja, believes that for every soul created by god, there is a soul mate for that person. It will be faith that will bring two souls together on this earth. She strongly opposes "arranged marriages" and wants marry the person with whom she falls in love.
Meanwhile, Nisha fractures her leg during rehearsals, forcing Rahul to look for another lead dancer. His search leads him Pooja. He suddenly realizes Pooja is the Maya of his dreams. He falls in love with her. Although she loves him too, but she never admits it.
The twist in the story comes when Pooja and Rahul are getting along so well and the musical is going on the right track, out comes Nisha confessing his love to Rahul, but Rahul is in love with Pooja. Pooja, on the other hand, has another lover. Akshay Kumar.
Akshay is the son of "aunt and uncle" They were raised together and were the best of friends. Akshay lived in London, but would often visit India and tell her all about London.
Akshay proposed her and being in shock that Pooja was, she accepted his offer. At the same time, Rahul's love for Pooja becomes stronger and stronger... But since Pooja has accepted Akashay's offer, she tells Rahul that she doesn't love him.
Who gets who?? Watch the film...

Bade Miyan Chote Miyan
CAST: Amitabh, Govinda, Raveena, Ramya, Madhuri(special appearance)
DIRECTION : David Dhawan
It begins with two officers by the name of Arjun Singh (Amitabh Bachchan) and Pyare Mohan (Govinda). Basically they due their jobs and on the side have relationships with Ramya and Raveena respectively. The first half with these 4 characters are quite amusing with their dances and some very comical situations. But what complicates the story is when two 'miyans' show up who look exactly like Arjun and Pyare. And so the 'Bade Miyan' and 'Chote Miyan' are the crooks, who somehow find their way to meet Raveena and Ramya who believe they are the good cops. Anyways, the crooks are always trying to steal various things, and find out about their identical cops, and so take it to their advantage to pretend like they are Arjun and Pyare. Sound confusing? Well it does get a big complicated. Fortunetely it is quite clear who is who. Now let's get to Madhuri's role in the film. Approximately, 1 1/2 hours into the film comes Madhuri, who plays nobody than herself. Bade miyan and Chote miyan decide to go see Madhuri Dixit on a film shooting and by mistake beat up the guys chasing her doing a film shooting. Madhuri is very flattered and gives them some tea and so forth. What is very funny is that the two start to flirt with her and believe that she likes them. They both fight amongst themselves about who she likes, when in actuality she was just being hospitable. All three dance to 'Makhna' which is done quite well in Mauritus. Madhuri looks stunning in every shot. Madhuri gets upset with the miyans when they hit on her, and when she runs into the Arjun and Pyare, she mistakes them for the crooks and gets mad at them. After that scene she drives off in a car. And so Madhuri's take in the film is about 15-20 minutes. Not really pivotal in the film, but a nice addition to the film. And so as can be expected the Miyans finally confront Arjun and Pyare, and the miyans along with the cops, help to catch the main crook played by Paresh Rawal. All ends well, but this time the miyans become the officers because of their heroic deeds and Arjun and Pyare end up as traffic wardens. Overall a MUST SEE Film.

CAST : Madhuri, Nana Patekar, Mukul Dev
DIRECTION: N.Chandra
The film on the whole was ok, but some how it was not complete, something in the film was lacking. i guess the film was not directed to its best ! The storyline being very good also the cinematography and direction was not satisfactory.
The first half an hour of the film deals with the love between Madhuri (Apoorva) and Mukul. However Madhuri also does some plays with nana while they are in college .. madhuri likes nana as a person but Nana falls in love with Madhuri and he has wierd fantasies of madhuri being a part of his own life. Madhuri does not even know that Nana loves her. Actually Nana is always ill treated by his father as he thinks that Nana is worthless and cannot succeed doing anything in life. Being an out-of-work actor, his father continually downplays being an actor. Later in the film Nana finds out that Madhuri is engaged to Mukul, and by accident Nana pushes Mukul's father who is killed immediately. Then Nana is sentenced to jail for a period of seven years. However, meanwhile, Madhuri and Mukul have their own problems in getting married to each other...as Madhuri's father feels that Mukul is worthless without his father's name who when alive was a collecter. So then the marriage is off. Madhuri and Mukul both decide to do something in life and get an identity for themselves so that people recognize them as what they are ! Mukul becomes a cop, while Madhuri becomes a journalist. Both excel at their jobs and meet up on a case which involves Nana who somehow manages to escape from prison and and goes on the wrong track. And along the way, Nana gains a sidekick, Ramya. Her role is very minimal and really could have been played by just about anyone. Then it becomes up to Mukul and Madhuri to catch this person, who at the time don't realize that it is Nana all along. Finally during a stage show, where Madhuri does her Ki Toot Gayi number, Madhuri finds out who the person is. Allowing Nana's wish for Madhuri to act once more on stage comes the bitter end. Nana forcefully becomes violent because Madhuri refuses to smile, whereas earlier she refused to cry. Watch the movie yourself to see what happens in the end. Songs donot seem to have been very appreciating. Personally i only like Aur Hum Tum. Toot gayi is bad ..the picturization is also not well done. Overall, this film is revolving around Nana, with his superior acting abilities to play a great variety of characters. And probably is his best work to date. As for Madhuri, well she does her role well too, but somehow she could have had a better role.
I rate this film 6 out of 10
