JONI'S "E_Z" HTML FOR WEBTV PAGE7

HOW TO MAKE YOUR OWN WEBPAGE-
THE "E_Z" WAY!

So, by now, you have the coolest email signature out there, and you have a pretty good idea of how to do a little HTML.
Feeling up to making a webpage? Why not? It could be a personal page, with just your own info, or, maybe, you have a business that you'd like to advertise on the web.Perhaps, you just want to tell the world all about your cat, "Mr. Fuzzy"...whatever! That's the point, it's YOUR page, and can be WHATEVER you want!

To begin with, ALL HTML documents, from the most high-tech, Silicon Valley major company's website, to your lowly; "Meet Mr. Fuzzy", all start out with the same thing- HTML!

So, the first thing that goes into your text box is ALWAYS

<HTML>

The last thing that goes into your text box is ALWAYS

</HTML>

Your entire document goes between these tags! EVERYTHING, no matter how many graphics, sounds, how much text you write- it all goes here! You only use ONE set of HTML tags per page! (This is just like doing your email signature, only think "Bigger"!)

OK, the Next thing, right after the opening <HTML> is

<HEAD>, so your box should look like this:

<HTML>
<HEAD>

Now, you give your page a title, like this:

<TITLE>MEET MR. FUZZY!</TITLE>

(This immediately follows the <HEAD>)

OK, now you add your META TAGS. META TAGS tell other browsers important information about your page, and help search engines find & catagorize your page.
These go right after the </TITLE>:

<META NAME="description"content="This is a page all about my cat, Mr. Fuzzy.">
<META NAME="keywords"content="Cats,Fuzzy,Feline,Finicky ">

You can change the title, description, and keywords to suit your page, of course!

OK, Now you add your <BODY> tag. This can be either a simple background & text color, or you can embed a GIF or JPG background.

If you don't remember how to do this, go back to Page 6,"HOW TO CHANGE BACKGROUNDS", now!

By now, your text box should look something like this:

<HTML>
<HEAD>
<TITLE>MEET MR. FUZZY!</TITLE>
<META NAME="description"content="This is a page all about my cat, Mr. Fuzzy.">
<META NAME="keywords"content="Cats,Fuzzy,Feline,Finicky ">
</HEAD>
<BODY>
<BODY BGCOLOR="yellow"TEXT="red">

Now, you can begin your text, or embed a picture.

If you don't remember how to do this, go back to Page 2,"HOW TO ADD PICTURES",now!

You may also want to add some background music.

(Does Mr. Fuzzy have a favorite song?
Hmmm..."Cats In The Cradle" perhaps?)

If you don't remember how to do this, go back to Page 4, "HOW TO ADD MUSIC",now!

OK, now all you have to do is type in your text...Whatever you want to say, as much as you want.

Add all your graphics...Whatever you want, as much as you want.

When you are done saying what you want to say, you must add a </BODY> to tie all your elements together.

Finally, as I said before, the LAST thing that goes into your page is ALWAYS the </HTML>

By now, your text box should look something like this:

<HTML>
<HEAD>
<TITLE>MEET MR. FUZZY!</TITLE>
<META NAME="description"content="This is a page all about my cat, Mr. Fuzzy.">
<META NAME="keywords"content="Cats,Fuzzy,Feline,Finicky ">
</HEAD>
<BODY>
<BODY BGCOLOR="yellow"TEXT="red">
ALL YOUR TEXT & IMAGES SHOULD BE TYPED IN HERE
</BODY>
</HTML>

Check through your own text, just to make sure that everything is the way that you want it, then, simply publish your page,
(On most HTML Editors, hit "Save", or "Use This HTML")
and, you are DONE!

CONGRATULATIONS! You did it! You made your first webpage!

Mr. Fuzzy would be proud!

By now, you may be saying;"But I can't do all that typing! I don't know how! I'm too slow, I'll never remember all that! Come on, Joni, isn't there an EASIER way?"

What, are you STILL confused? OK,OK! Here is a Simple Webpage Setup that you can
Cut & Paste
right into your text box, to get you started! Just change the title, description, and other related info to suit your own page, add what you want, & that's it!. I've done all the "hard stuff" for you! What could be easier?

Oh, & by the way, if you think that I'm coming over to your house to do your dishes, too- forget it! I'm giving you all this, the rest is up to you! Have fun!:-)

NOTE: This is pretty much a standard, "Bare Bones" kind of webpage setup, designed for a Total Beginner. There are many other elements of style, such as FONT FACES, and EMBED codes, that can be added to it, if you like, when you have a better grasp on HTML. You can customize it however you like. If you want,remember to change the BGCOLOR to BACKGROUND, if you will be using a GIF or JPG background for your page. It's also a good idea to add an additional BGCOLOR to a page that has a GIF or JPG background, just in case some browsers cannot view it. All WebTV users can usually see all other WebTV user's colors & backgrounds, but some computer users cannot. Just make sure to use a color that is similar to your GIF or JPG, so that your text will show up clearly.
