MISCELLANEOUS HISTORY

This page will explore the darker aspects of the history of mankind in general. Here you will find documents and histories of the slave trade and the evolution of legal punishements for those accused of committing crimes, as well as historical over-views of various eras throughout man's history. You will also find documents and histories of the Shroud of Turin and the Holy Grail. Why? Because although not "dark" in and of themselves, they have been the focal point of various atrocities throughout time. For example, it is believed by some scholars that it was the Shroud---folded so that only the face was visible---which was the "Image of Baphomet" the Knights Templar were accused of (and later executed for) worshipping. You will also find information on various historical cultural practices, such as: foot-binding, suttee/sati, castration, and the exposure or starving of unwanted babies. And, of course, there will be histories of the various "Holy Wars" man has engaged in throughout time. As has been stated before, it is necessary to remember the past---not to celebrate it---but to learn from it, and to keep from repeating the sorts of atrocities discussed below.
