The 10 Most Annoying
Habits
10...or 11...or 12 annoying habits
to avoid |
Rei: All
right. Well, you know I get annoyed by a lot of stuff if you've ever seen
me in action - most often it's Usagi -
Usagi:
Hey!
Rei:
- or an enemy that's really mean, or ... bad HTML. Yes. I can't stand it.
When people overuse MIDIs, put bad background images on their pages, make
blinking text .... argh. I usually leave a page. So, if you want to avoid
having people get annoyed at your page, keep in mind these 10 most annoying (well, IMHO)
things to have on your page:
-
When the background
image is really bright and doesn't let you read the text very well. Gosh,
that just ruins the whole page. How can you enjoy something you can't read?!
I don't understand why people do this. Really.
-
When the design
was given no thought whatosever, I don't enjoy the content as much. I'm
sorry, I know that sounds shallow, but design is important to me - this
is the web, after all, and webpages are there to look nice too. If EVERYONE
had a page like Hitoshi Doi's, the web would be totally boring! {No offense,
Hitoshi Doi! ^_^}
-
Plagiarism. I already
explained this in Usagi's help section; DON'T DO IT. It's just dumb.
-
Those silly MIDIs
in the background. Usually I can't turn them off without totally rebooting
the computer! Argh!!
-
Frequent misspellings,
grammar errors, and general rambling makes your page less appealing.
-
When the person
writing has either 1) A really bad, "my page is a wate of time" attitude
or 2) an overblown ego, especially when the page isn't great.
-
Award systems
that don't mean anything are terribly irritating. Don't give awards to
just anyone. What's the point, then?
-
A site with all
the usual features: profiles, attack lists, image galleries, multimedia,
etc etc etc.
-
Sloppy HTML is
yucky, too. When you put random paragraphs in, and smush all your coding
together, it's a big mess. Also, if you don't close certain tags, things
can go very wrong.
-
If you're going
to write on the DiC version, use the names "Serena", "Amy," "Raye," etc.
Don't write Usagi or Usagi/Serena. Mixing the original and the DiC version
is a bad idea, it gets on a lot of people's nerves.
Usagi-star:
Thank you very much, Rei-chan, for that very helpful list of -
Rei:
And make sure there's no blinking text on your page! And also, don't put
those stupid messages in the alert bars! And don't overuse Javascript!
Usagi-star:
I think that will be quite enough, Rei-chan! Um, arigatou! {Thank you!}
Rei: Hey wait!
Make sure you don't overuse headings! And - hey! What are you doing?!
{Mako and Ami
drag Rei away}
