Usagi's guide to starting a new Sailormoon page
Usagi: Konnichiwa, minna! {Good afternoon, everyone!}

Sometimes, when surfing the web, I come across one of the thousands of pages dedicated to me and my friends, the Sailor Senshi. There's just so much out there ... you guys know more about us than I do! Some people even draw pictures of us, and write stories about us, and -

Chibiusa: Do you have a point here, Usagi?

Usagi: Ehehe! Of course I do! My point is, because there's already so much out there, it would do you good to come up with an original idea, one that no one has ever used before. Of course, since those are really hard to come by, you might just do a variation on another page's idea, kind of like Usagi-star is doing with this page. Reviewing Sailormoon pages was never Usagi-star's idea. You know that, right? I'm also pretty sure she wouldn't have come up with it herse-

Usagi-star: Er, that's enough, Usagi! Point taken! ^^;;;

Usagi: Right! Secondly, if you're not using an original idea, make sure everything you write is original! Copying other people's designs and writing is just dumb. What pleasure can you possibly get out of publishing other people's stuff?! That's just downright wrong! In the name of the moon, Ill punish you!

Ami: Usagi, please try to stay focused.
Minako: Egad, Usagi, now's not the time to bring out THAT rusty old speech!

Usagi: I heard that! You're gonna get it, Minako!! Get over here! You're moon dusted!!

Rei: Usagi!! Usagi? {waits} Oh well ... what was she talking about ... oh, plagarism. Yeah, that really sucks. make sure everything you publish has been written, edited, designed, etc. BY YOU. It's really irritating when webmasters see their stuff ripped off.
     So, if you have an original idea and original content, start thinking about design. I tend to think that design should only be complimentary to content. Content comes first, as many experienced web authors will tell you. The best layout in the world couldn't save a boring page (well, maybe it could, but that isn't the point).
     If you're having trouble thinking of interesting stuff to publish, here are some ideas:

  • A message board/forum
  • Rants/observations
  • Free graphics/scanned images
  • in-depth analyzations of characters
  • journals written by a character
  • fan fiction
  • fan-art
I sure hope that helped! Now where did Usagi go ...
