CELEBRATE OUR VICTORIES OF RECOGNITION

ONE SMALL VICTORY

In the past month the Interior Health Authority has awarded the Full Scope L.P.N.'s working in long term care facilities payment for being on call for their residents and staff during their lunch break on nights at straight time. Presently R.N.'s working in exactly the same capacity get overtime for this period.
This reaction by management only entices us to KEEP UP THE FIGHT. See UNION WOES for more details.
NEXT....CHARGE PAY FOR THE FULL SCOPE L.P.N.

Union Woes/Cheers

One Step Forward & Two Steps Back

That was then - this is now.
As of April 1, 2008 The new "Classification" agreed on by the HEU "your union" and IHA has knocked us back again.
They claim that due to a "faux pah" in 2004 the LPN's of TCS in Residential Care were classified as  "Supervisors" which they should not have been. The reason behind this happening was because the Residential Care LPN's were working at their full scope and when all of the LPN's in the province were required to upgrade by the CLPN of BC was completed then all of the LPN's should have at that time been rated at the same rate of pay (the Higher or lower - guess which one they would have chosen). Even though many of the LPN's (especially in Acute care) were not being utilized to their full scope they say they feel that every LPN should have been getting the same rate of pay at that time.
