Part 1 Biographic Data For Visa Purposes
General
Information :
This is the part of the process that
can take the longest to complete if you are not prepared ahead
of time.
There was nothing that we could do to speed
the Government up at thier end, after filing the petition, so we
began to collect the items outlined in
the Check List. The sooner we had all the needed items together the
sooner that we could return the Check List
to the Consulate, they could then set a date for the interview.

[ Instructions for the Consulate
Package ]
Examining The Check List
[The Check
List is split in to four (4) parts ]
[PART "A"] Optional
Form
230 Part 1 Biographic Data For Visa Purposes
" Complete and Return To The Consulate immediately
"
[PART "B"] This
is the heart of the Check List.
This Section outlines all of the
Supporting Documentation
that will be required to be presented at the
interview. It definitely takes time
and money to complete this section .
This part of the Check List includes things such as, Passport, Photos,
I-134,
Medical Instructions, Police
Certificates ...etc. Check
here for tips !!
[PART "C"] OF
- 156 Non-Immigrant Visa Application.
Complete in duplicate,
but
DO NOT SIGN
them. Complete a single copy of the OF
- 156K.
Suppliment to Form OF-156
and
again DO NOT SIGN
this form
[PART "D"] When
everything is collected and the forms above competed the Check List
is ready to be returned to the Consulate. Be Sure to
sign
and date it .
Tip: As
soon as you are sure that you have or will have in your possesion soon,
all of the required
items on the Check List that apply to you, SEND
IN THE CHECK LIST ! They
cant set a date until
they receive the completed Check List.
Tip :
Apply for the Passport first, as you will also need
this at the medical exam, as well as the
interview.
Tip :
Dont wait
till the last minute to book the medical exam, there may be at least
a 2 week wait,
.....at best .
Tip :
The method
and by whom you obtain Police Clearnce, may differ substantialy depending
on your
location. Dont wait to get this
done, projected time is 4 - 8
weeks. It may even get lost,
dont wait !! If
you leave this one, U.S. the Government may be done before you are !!
Others have had problems here.
Tip :
Dont sign
the additional forms
that are sent to you by the Consulate, they MUST be signed there.
Tip : Be
sure to include a letter written by the sponsor,
that that he or she is still free and willing to
marry. If you look closely at the Check List, a letter was not listed as
being one of the required
items, but this letter will be required, and is requested in the final communication
from the Consulate
when setting the date for the Visa Interview.
Tip :
Dont forget
some
proof of the relationship,
again, although this was not listed as being one of
the required items, it will be requested by the consulate.
Tip:
When you
plan to pay for the K-1 Visa, make sure that you bring US funds, and Cash
Only,
..... no coins.
So once you have the $45.00
U.S. for the K-1 Visa, the I-134 and its supporting
documentation properly prepared,
and all the items on the check list accomplished,
and the additional forms prepared,
your ready for the interview at the Consulate.
" Don't forget the Letter from the U.S. Citizen .... as well as proof
or relationship "
