An island, a house and the seat across from Regis: Those are the places that most viewers have their eyes on this summer.
CBS's "Survivor" remained the top-rated prime-time show last week, according to Nielsen Media Research figures. About 27 million viewers watched college student Jenna get voted off the island.
Next-ranked were the Sunday, Thursday and Tuesday editions of ABC's Regis Philbin-hosted game show, "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire."
Then came CBS's "Big Brother," which landed in fifth place with its live Wednesday edition airing after "Survivor." The week's other five installments of this voyeur-vision series didn't fare as well, ranking 20, 29, 45, 48 and 75.
For the week, ABC and CBS tied, each scoring a 6.6 household rating and a 12 share, though ABC edged out CBS in average viewers -- 9.70 million to 9.55 million. NBC had 8.87 million viewers (6.2 rating and 11 share), and Fox had 5.91 million (4 rating, 7 share).
UPN had 3.19 million viewers (2, 4), the WB had 2.42 million (1.6, 3) and Pax TV had 1.4 million (1, 2).
NBC's "Nightly News" won the evening news ratings derby with 9.74 million viewers (7.2 rating, 16 share). ABC's "World News Tonight" had 8.81 million viewers (6.7, 15), while "The CBS Evening News" had 7.75 million viewers (6.0, 13).
A rating point represents 1,008,000 households, or 1 percent of the nation's estimated 100.8 million TV homes. Share is the percentage of in-use televisions tuned to a given show.
