When I was a kid I'd go visit Aunt Mary
And ride with Ol' Dave in his truck to the dairy
Up front in the cab would be Johnny and Jack
My cousin and I got to ride in the back
We'd jump in the Hayloft, or play hide and go seek
Then go get the cows and throw rocks in the creek
I remember asparagus piled high on my plate
And lord help us if Dave caught us riding his gate
We gathered the eggs and we fed all the chickens
The go tease the hogs and we'd all get the dickens
In the old wagon shed, on a Calvary saddle
I'd sit chasing outlaws or rounding up cattle
Those days on the farm, even now I enjoy
As I tell my kids of when I was a boy
I'll see an old milk can, or some boys in a barn
and I'll think of Aunt Mary, and out on the farm
