We first said "Hi" my girls and I
When they were only little
Since then my spot in camera shots
Is always in the middle
On camping trips or backyard dips
Or fishing Pecos waters
You'll see my face in my special place-
Between my darlin' daughters
Between those two before they grew
I've stood in many poses-
They hold my hand and there I stand,
A thorn among the roses
In hunting boots or swimming suits
Or sitting 'neath the trees-
We laugh and smile, but all the while
I'm thinking, memories
For come the years, despite my fears
I hate to think about them-
How can I laugh for a photograph
While standing there without them
