This particular word is a bit of a double-edged sword in that it has a twin. Yes, it's twin has an 'e' at the end
of the word 'protocol'. Nevertheless, Harold Nicolson's definition -- as stated in Dr.Palo's sheet -- is defined thus:
"originally a protocol was a mere record of agreement and as such, far less formal than a
treaty or convention."
