What is a Treaty?

According to Dr.Palo's sheet, there are two types of treaties: there is what you and me understand to be a treaty -- the conventional one such as the Versailles one -- and there is the so-called treaty of mutual guarantee.

First up, treaties are agreements conducted either as bilateral (conducted between two countries), or multilateral.

Secondly, treaties of mutual guarantees are those "international compacts, which, as the Treaty of Locarno -- signed in 1925 (German-Belgian & Franco-German frontiers as fixed by Treaty of Versailles were inviolable) -- aim at guaranteeing each signatory against attack from another."
