Before you leave that classroom, you should make a check-list. Do you need to make parental contact? Are there any administrative letters, or letters from the principal that need filing? Are you taking home night work? Do you need to grade testing, or homework?
You should also consider classroom improvements. To save some time in the morning, you might try to update tomorrow's lessons. You can place titles, objectives, homework, activities on the blackboard, or chart paper for the next day. This is a good practice because your principle may look, or find out what is on your board when you leave each day.
Student safety is a concern. If you need to arrange your student desks, this is a good time for that. Any sharp objects, or expensive objects should be put in a locked closet. Any school supplies should be locked. Fellow teachers gaining access to your classroom can be kept honest with a locked closet.
