Full Disclosure
According to today's Sunday Telegraph, File 13, which they're calling "Full Disclosure" (episodes "Two Fathers" and "One Son") will be released on April 14. This date ties in with the advert on the X-Files Movie video but is at odds with the information posted on February 23 below. We'll have to wait and see. Also, further confiration that "The Beginning" will not be released on video and that The X-Files Movie will be released in September. There will be two formats, the cinema release and a special edition with additional scenes. I don't think they're going to sell too many of cinema version!

Season # 7 and Movie # 2
Today's Sunday Telegraph has a small article with Chris Carter confirming that season seven will indeed be the last with the final episode set to screen in Australia in September 2000.

Elsewhere I read a brief interview with Carter where he stated a second X-Files movie would be filmed at least a year after the season seven close and most likely be released in the US in their summer of 2002. That would equate to a possible July 2002 release in Australia. Mmm, that's only a bit more than three years away ...

Episode Guide Updates
I've decided to fast-track my episode guide and will try and do two or three episodes a day until it's complete. I'll let you know when the first batch is done.

Action Figures/Movie CD
My local K-Mart store (and presumably others nationwide) has further reduced the X-Files Movie action figures. They're now selling at the attractive price of $12.00. Big W has reduced the X-Files Movie CD to $14.50 but that's still more expensive than Sanity (if you can still find it there).

Sundry Updates
I've added a number of small articles to my Australian Media: Newspapers page. I've also archived all the stories from October 1998 to January 1999 which can be accessed here.

I've also added some additional information to the "Triangle" page of my episode guide.

"Triangle"
I went to a birthday party for my two-year-old nephew Ryan last night so I had to watch "Triangle" on tape when I got home. Luckily the VCR decided not to play up! Anyway, I've added "Triangle" to my episode guide.

"Dreamland"
The ad for "Dreamland", next week's episode, looked interesting. That face Mulder pulls is hilarious! This is first of a two-parter that makes up File 14 mentioned on February 23 below.

20th Century Fox Contest
X-Files fans who've bought the Wave 2 videos will have spotted the contest Fox is running from 17 February to 1 June, 1999 where you can win a Panasonic Home Theatre entertainment package valued at $4,299. You have to fill in the coupon that comes with the video, answer three questions (Where did you purchase this video? What did you purchase? How many videos do you own?) and write a review in 25 words or less of your favourite sci-fi movie.

Just Entertainment
I noticed a new-ish Australian magazine in the newsagents today, issue 2 of Just Entertainment. It's a low quality overpriced ($4.95) teen-oriented mag that is little more than a catalogue of products. They had a small X-Files section, selling David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson 1999 calendars for the outrageous price of $22 each. There were also five books available. Their flat rate postage charge is $8. That's poor value considering (almost) two months of the year have already passed. They also have a web site that I don't recommend but if you're curious and have time to waste it's http://www.just-e.net/. The two calendars are there (the link to the DD pic doesn't work) but the books are nowhere to be found.

OK, it's a slow news day!!

File 13: One Son
Even though the promo on The X-Files Movie video says "One Son" (File 13) will be released in April, Fox have told Medellia that it will be released on St Patrick's Day, 17 March.

File 14: Dreamland
A release date for File 14, "Dreamland" hasn't yet been announced. The two episodes that make up that video will screen on 10/Capital on 3 March and 10 March.

The Mighty/Playing By Heart
My birthday present will be watching Gillian Anderson in "The Mighty" when it's released on 11 March. Her other movie "Playing By Heart" is set for a 20 May release.

The 1999 Grammy Awards
The Grammies screen on 10/Capital this Thursday. See my post for 25 January for the X-Files relevance. Postscript: sadly, The Dust Brothers didn't win!

Playing God
A reminder that the David Duchovny movie is released on video today.

another chapter in The X Files Movie on video saga
Guess what I watched tonight? Yes, the video was released one day early, so I rented a copy and watched it ... it stands up quite well on the samll screen, I think. Tomorrow I'll be able to watch "Drive" on TV without having to squeeze the video in as well.

The interest comes in the trailers ... lots of X-Files stuff. OK, there's a brief promo for the soundtrack CD, a promo for the wave two videos (which were also on sale today - one day early), a promo for the 12 File videos which will shortly be taken out of circulation (get them soon if you want them), a promo for an upcoming special release in April (see Two Fathers/One Son below) and a promo for The X-Files Movie Special Edition which will be available to buy in September 1999!

There was also the added bonus of the Filter "One" video clip.

I asked the manager of the Video Ezy in Bathurst about the X-Files Movie Fridge Magnets and she said most stores didn't get them and they had been withdrawn from sale for legal reasons. If you have one of the precious items consider yourself very lucky.

Have a great Valentine's Day.

TV Now
Today's Sun-Herald TV Now liftout features Mulder and Scully on the cover and a two page story inside.

Added Saturday, February 13, 1999
I haven't had the time for that many updates this month, but I should get back on track next week. Today's update should get everything reasonably up-to-date at least.

M & M Ads
m & m adI haven't seen them on Australian TV yet, but there are a series of M & M commercials currently screening in the States which spoof the X-Files -- they're the M Files. The ads are very funny so keep an eye out for them. In the meantime you can check them out at http://www.m-ms.com/crispy.

Playing God
There's a competition on the main page of the Village site where you can win a copy of David Duchovny's Playing God video. You have to answer 3 questions and provide your name/e-mail/address.

"The Beginning"
See my episode guide for details on "The Beginning". Next week's episode is "Drive".

Turn Me On
One of channel 10's Turn Me On station promos features The X-Files. It screens at various times during the day and night.

Two Fathers/One Son
Medellia has been getting all the latest info direct from Fox ... The two-parter "Two Fathers" / "One Son" that's currently airing in North America is being released in Australia on video some time in April!

The Bad News
OK, it just keeps getting worse. The X Files Movie won't be released for sale on video until six months after the rental release this Wednesday. That makes it mid to late August! The only good news is that it will also be available on widescreen (letterbox) format for all the real film buffs. This was also from Medellia.

Top Video
top video magazine coverJust like the Restaurant At The End Of The Universe trilogy, the video store trilogy has turned to four! Top Video stores also have an X-Files competition in their Top Videos for February magazine. (The magazine is virtually identical to the Civic Video magazine mentioned on February 6 below, except for the different competition. The review of The X Files Movie is identical as is the Playing God review.) Anyway, up for grabs are (two first prizes of) a limited edition movie script (50 world-wide and the only 2 in Australia, supposedly) signed by Chris Carter, a video, movie soundtrack CD, cap and t-shirt. 30 runners-up will win a movie soundtrack CD, cap, and t-shirt. Check out the Top Video magazine for the entry form. You have to answer a tough question and then review the movie in 25 words or less! Entries close March 17.

X Files Movie Fridge Magnets
Various Video Ezy stores across Australia are selling what seems to be a fairly rare X Files Movie fridge magnet promo. (If anyone has one spare I'd love one, hint, hint!!) There's a lot of information regarding this item on Medellia's Realm Australian news page.

Another X Files Movie Review
A favourable review of the video appeared in The Daily Telegraph on Thursday (11-2-99). It received four stars. I'll add it to my Australian Media: Movie page as soon as I get a chance.

Old news
It's old news now but ... there was a Chris Owens (Agent Spender) interview on E! News on Wednesday night just before The X-Files. I never usually watch this trashy show (which in reality is just a promo for a certain women's magazine) but saw the promo for the interview so sat through the show to see what Chris Owens had to say. Funny, he seems to be friends with David Duchovny!

Because the second cricket final was washed out last night, WIN (channel 9 in the country) threw together an alternative lineup that included Magic's Biggest Secrets Revealed 3, hosted by Mitch Pileggi (AD Skinner). The show was scheduled for Sydney and other capital cities on Wednesday night -- the first cricket final screened on WIN instead where I live. Mulder would have enjoyed the show ... discovering how David Copperfield made the Statue of Liberty disappear! If you don't get the reference, watch "Fearful Symmetry".

There were a couple of brief X-Files references in the Sunday papers last week. In The Sunday Telegraph was a story on Catatonia (the Welsh band) who have a song titled Mulder and Scully. In The Sun-Herald TV Now was a little piece on the season 6 premiere in a story about the start of the 1999 ratings season. I'll add them to my Australian Media: Newspapers page when I get a chance.

Brooklyn South
If you like spotting X-Files guest stars in other roles, I suggest you check out Brooklyn South which screens late (around 11pm) Thursday nights on 9/WIN. I saw a recent episode that had four actors who've had roles on The X-Files. John Finn who played Michael Kritschgau in "Redux" has a recurring role at present.

"The Beginning"
No need to tell you that tonight's the night! After six months of X-Files deprivation, "The Beginning" screens at 8:30pm on the 10/Capital network!

Rolling Stone
I was flicking through the latest issue of Rolling Stone at the newsagents today (the one with Jewel on the cover) and there was a (smallish) review of The X Files Movie. There was also a full page promo of the video release.

Wave Two Videos
Thanks to Medellia for letting me know, the Wave Two videos will be released on February 17.

"The Beginning" promo
Did anyone see the amazing full one-minute promo of the season 6 X-Files premiere this afternoon? I missed it unfortunately, but according to Kelly it was brilliant!

The X-Files Movie on video
I just got an e-mail from a friend in England who said The X Files Movie was to be released there today and it's the same sad story ... it's only available for rental. However it will be for sale in Britain at the end of March. If the distributors follow the same path in Australia, we might expect to see the video on sale in early April. Otherwise, there's always the option of buying a second hand copy at your local video store in a month's time.

The X-Files Movie on video
OK, the trilogy of video store magazines is complete. The video features in the February issue of Civic Home Entertainment Magazine. There's also a competition where you can win a Making of The X-Files Movie book, a T shirt and Scully action figure. Read the article on my Australian Media: Movie page

The magazine also has a review of Playing God with a pic of Angelina Jolie and David Duchovny with a gun pointed at his head. There's also a pic of the video cover which has David Duchovny standing there with his arms crossed to appeal to all his X-Files fans.

Glimmer Of The Truth
The Daily Telegraph had a story at the start of the week with the above title that I've just added to my Australian Media: Collectibles page. (Yeah, I know the name doesn't really fit ... but it was originally for "collectible" magazine covers and the like!) It does contain spoilers (nothing specific) but I posted the article because it's already appeared in a newspaper for all to read. If you don't want to know anything that's going to happen in seaosn 6, don't read it!

The X-Files Movie ... the dreaded news ... (rental only)
In this week's Woman's Day magazine (courtesy of my mum) is the confirmation many people didn't want to believe. The X Files Movie video will be available for rental only when it is released on February 17. Damn. The X Files Movie is the mag's video of the week in this issue. Read the article on my Australian Media: Movie page

Season 6 Premiere - Tune In
In today's Daily Telegraph, in the 7 days TV program, there's a nice big picture of Scully and Mulder with The X-Files season premiere appearing in the Tune In column. Read the article on my Australian Media: Newspapers page.
Only six days to go. Woo hoo!

TV Guide Awards
Further to my post of January 21, the US TV Guide Awards were presented on February 1. You can read a small article that appeared in The Daily Telegraph yesterday on my Australian Media: Newspapers page. David Duchovny won the award for best actor in a drama.

Season 6 Premiere: TV Week
This week's TV Week (dated February 6) has a couple of X-Files blurbs. Firstly, there's a small piece on Cher supposedly being a guest-star for two episodes this season. I read elsewhere that she will not appear. Second, there's a story on the premiere of season six next week concerning the move from (filming in) Vancouver to Los Angeles. Read the article on my Australian Media: Magazines page
Only eight days to go and counting....
