Project Chevelle Wagon page two...

The work continues on our '66 Chevelle wagon

I cut the old skin off, and sprayed the latches and locks with a generous helping of WD40 while I had easy access...

The car sat for most of the winter without much being done. However, when spring arrived, I got new 1/4 skins and a tailgate skin for an El Camino that I modified to fit the gate. Here is a picture of the original with the skin all caved in, and bondo caked about 1/4" thick on the left side (previous damage!?#$%&@)...

The new skin fit easily, and the Installation was a breeze. I just worked slowly around the sides and bottom of the panel, folding the flange over the edge with a hammer & dolly...followed up by welding the seam overlap at the bodyline. In the picture at the left, you can see the finished panel primed, shaped, and back in place on the car...

Now it has a hood, and some nice wheels (89 IROC) This thing is starting to look like a car again!
