"Old Yeller" has come a long ways since I got her back in May, '96..... As I began to work the body, I noticed the original color was yellow... I remembered from my high school days the way these cars looked with their blacked out trim, and decide to take it back to the factory correct color. Here is my car at Super Chevy Indy July,'99. It still needs the stripe package, and a front spoiler, but all that will come eventually, like I said, it's my never ending project and may never be done....The next step on this one is probably going to be an Edelbrock Performer fuel pump and carbureator (gulp-gulp)....More to come in the future! Z/28 UPDATE !!!! Last week, I put on the Edelbrock carb & fuel pump, what a difference! the throttle response is awesome, and it still does pretty good on gas...

Day 1, May, '96 I got this very solid body from a guy at work who had about 3 too many cars in his yard, and was being pressured by the city to get rid of them... I got the car with no motor, trans, bad steering column, and one of the tops broken out.... Total price....$500. Tired...but stout! I got this running 350 out of a late '70's Caprice wagon for $250. It should make a good building block for a nice street motor.... The motor was disassembled, and fitted with a 350hp Corvette cam, double roller timing chain, and 883 casting heads... March, '97... The motor is painted, and installed in the car and sporting such goodies as an Edelbrock Performer intake, Hooker headers (donated from a '70 split bumper), and the old school Mickey Thompson valve covers.... A set of Accell Super Stock wires complete the look. |
