Tomb Raider: The Times Exclusive Overview

Tomb Raider: The Times Exclusive

Published by: Eidos Interactive & The London Times
Developed by: CORE Design

Systems: PC only
When:
2001

There are no expansion packs for Revelation (and no plans for one as far as we know). Fortunately, the London Times and Eidos teamed up for an exclusive TR level using the TR4 engine. In this one level adventure, Lara explores a newly discovered area of Tutankhamun's tomb.

As the story goes, Lara is made an offer which she can't refuse - at the request of the Editor of the London Times, no less! An Egyptian correspondent for the paper has uncovered a previously unknown tunnel, possibly leading to an undiscovered tomb near that of Tutankhamun.

The editor wants Lara to give it a look, offering her the Times' own archives filled with reports made by famed egyptologist Howard Carter, the discoverer of King Tut's tomb back in the '20s.

Lara's mission: return to the musty tombs of Egypt, and find the treasure that eluded Carter. As Lara puts it, "Time to finish what Carter started."

Requirements: Only available for PC - Windows 95.

This level is reminiscent of The Last Revelation, complete with stinging scorpions, vicious jackals, undead mummies, toothy nile crocs and carnivorous hordes of scarab beetles. The tomb scenes should look familiar as well - they strongly resemble those shown in the credits "fly-through" FMV movie sequence of Revelation.
