- FEATURED COUNTERFEIT SELLER: Live From Europe

With Cuban cigars being sold all throughout Europe one would think that the consumers in Europe would be educated on counterfeits. One look at eBay Germany and you will see that there are a lot of unsuspecting buyers willing to throw money at very blatant counterfeits. Here is just a sample:

Counterfeit #1: 25 Zigarren Cohiba Esplendidos in Zedernholzk - barnybernstein
Check out this box. Not only are the stickers misplaced on the box. The green warranty seal has been placed upside down and ... well just take a look it all f!@#!ed up. This auction ended with 13 bids for a price of US$150.

Counterfeit #2: 25 frische COHIBA Esplendidos aus Cuba - brisko1_de
This box, like the box above, has the green warranty seal and the Habanos sticker in the wrong location. While the green warranty seal is facing the right direction it has been placed way too high on the box. The first fold should cut through the Cuban shield. This auction ended with 19 bids for a price of US$150.

Counterfeit #3: 25 frische COHIBA Esplendidos aus Cuba - thozi70
This one is funny. Check out the green warranty seal this one, I've got to give the guy a 10 on originality. What's even funnier is this auction ended with 35 bids for a final price of US$120.

Counterfeit #4: Cohiba Esplendidos in Holzkiste ab 1 € - kuchenei
The stickers looked so pretty the didn't want to put them on the box! This one finished with 21 bids for a price of around US$120.

From eBay Europe here is an auction for counterfeit box of Cohiba Esplendidos. Yes, even the infamous glass-tops are sold there. It has an amazing 21 bids thus far for just under US$100.

- FEATURED COUNTERFEIT SELLER: billfrog

Update: billfrog May 18, 2002(1)
We have corresponded with billfrog via email and he honestly admitted that he was not that knowledgable about Cuban cigars. After explaining to him what was wrong with the box that he had up for auction, he pulled the auction.

This just proves that not all sellers of counterfeit cigars are out to rip you off.

-----------------------------------

billfrog has just listed a box of faux box of Cohiba Robustos. It already has 3 bids and is up to US$152.50.

Counterfeit Cohiba Robustos
The labels on this box have been misplaced. The green warranty label should go where the Habanos sticker is and the Habanos sticker should have been placed where the green warranty seal is. Also, the picture shows that the crease (fold) cuts through the middle of the warranty seal, which is incorrect - the crease should cut through the Cuban shield.

Normally, we don't list empty counterfeit Cuban cigar boxes on our site, but this one is too funny. Check out the double Habanos sticker located on each corner of the box and the lack of a factory code on the back. Oh, BTW, we got an email response from the seller.

whyaduck00 has pulled his head out just far enough to respond:

- FEATURED COUNTERFEIT SELLER: mgluvic

Update: mgluvic May 22, 2002(1)
We get a lot of email back from our readers and I must say that everyone is very appreciative of what we are doing. On the other hand, we do get emails from counterfeit sellers who are very upset at what we do. Here is email banter from one of those whom we've managed to piss off. This is a typical email that we receive from counterfeit sellers, although Mike is very civil in his emails to us, he nonetheless, tries to pull the "I can find out all about you through the interent" scare tactic. This usually happens when counterfeit seller begin feeling desperately hopeless. Like we even care.

-----------------------------------

mgluvic has got five (5) different Cuban cigar auctions - problem is they are all counterfeit. Maybe it's just me - I am a cynical bastard - but doesn't that hand in the picture look familiar.

Counterfeit Cohiba Esplendido Auction

The problem with this box of Cohiba Lanceros is the green warranty seal has been applied to the wooden box. Authentic Cohiba Lanceros are placed in an outer cardboard box and has the green warranty seal (and factory code) applied to the cardboard box.

Counterfeit Partagas ???

mgluvic does not state what type of counterfeit cigars these are, but we are going to guess they are Lusitanias. Irregardless, all Paratgas dress boxes have the green warranty seal placed on the lower left corner of the box and have the Habanos sticker on the upper right. Also, another thing all Cuban cigars have is a factory code, which is mysteriously missing on this box.

Counterfeit Montecristo No. 2

Next on his list is this box of counterfeit Montecristo No. 2's. This box does have the green warranty label on the lower left (maybe a little further to the right than we would like to see), but what identifies this box as a counterfeit is the lack of a factory code.

Counterfeit Montecristo Joyitas

Up next is his counterfeit box of Montecristo Joyitas. Normally, you don't see counterfeits in smaller vitolas but they are out there. On this box the green warranty seal is placed perfectly as is the Habanos sticker, but again, this box lacks a factory code on the back of the box.

Counterfeit Romeo y Julieta ???
Again, this moron fails to describe what type of cigars these are. But at this point does it really matter???

Update: loscostranostra May 29, 2002 (2)

loscostranostra has, again, relisted counterfeit Esplendido auction. With a little more than 2 days left he has managed to snag one unsuspecting bidder for US$249.00. Let's see if this bidder realizes his error and retacts his bid before the end of the auction.

-----------------------------------

Update: loscostranostra May 15, 2002 (1)

loscostranostra has got a couple more counterfeit Esplendido auctions up. I guess that person who won the first auction never completed the transaction. Too bad.

-----------------------------------

These guys always have additional boxes that they can sell you "off" eBay and usually for a better price.

unable to see the link for additional pictures. Can you send them via
email? also what other boxes do you have?

-----------------------------------

loscostranostra has snared a victim with his auction for a box of Cohiba Esplendidos - the final bid was US $332.77!!! for a box that is probably worth US$50. That's over US$280 dollars profit!!! That's more profit than selling legitimate Cuban cigars, which is why the counterfeit market is so large. We requested that the seller provide us with additional picture of the box that he has up for auction and they prove that these are counterfeits. Check out the picture of the back of the box...Where's the factory code? Also, this box is shrink-wrapped! A pretty good indication that they came out of the Dominican Republic.

jride999 has an auction "Authentic Cohiba Box". Were assuming that he is not trying to sell this counterfeit box without the counterfeit cigars. He states that you need to email him for the details, but his pictures provide all the detail that we need to determine this as a counterfeit box.

Update: rll@priveye.com May 18, 2002(1)
With 20 hours left on this auction it looks like there are two people fighting it out still on this auction pushing the bid price over US$280 - that's over a 600% profit margin!

-----------------------------------

rll@priveye.com
has an auction for a box of counterfeit Cohiba Esplendidos. We have informed him that the box that he is offering is a counterfeit box.

After visiting their site www.priveye.com, which has a section on Cons & Scams, one would assume that they will remove their counterfeit auction. Right?

Counterfeit Cohiba Esplendidos
Here is another counterfeit box of Cohiba Esplendidos with the green warranty seal and Habanos sticker applied in the wrong location. The green warranty seal should appear below the Cohiba logo and the Habanos sticker should be on the upper left corner. Counterfeits such as these are easy to identify, however, we received additional pictures that were not included on the auction. The picture of the back of the box indicates the lack of a required box code and the close up of the green warranty seal shows the amatuerish looking red serial numbers. Compare it to the red serial numbers of an authentic seal and you will clearly see the difference.

- FEATURED COUNTERFEIT SELLER: montanoinc

Update: montanoinc May 7, 2002 (2)
Failing to have ripped off someone the first time montanoinc has relisted his auction on eBay for counterfeit Cohiba Esplendidos.

-----------------------------------

Update: montanoinc May 5, 2002 (1)

montanoinc has pulled his head out far enough to respond:
We can go back and forth with emails all day. To satisfy that they were authentic I offered to talk over the phone and sent the pictures you requested. I paid nothing compared to what their worth here now. Customs allows 2 boxes per person. This helps to pay for my trip, most of my family lives in Pinar Del Rio, Cuba.

Good luck Bidding.......

There are many Cubans living abroad who travel regularly to Cuba to visit friends and family. Many of them bring back counterfeit cigars to sell them at huge profits to help pay for the cost of their flight and more.

-----------------------------------

montanoinc has pulled his head out far enough to respond:
I bought them myself in Pinar Del Rio Cuba, thats why I know their authentic. I dont know much about Authenticity or what exactly your looking at but if not sure about authenticity dont bid. I tried to satisfy your questions with the pictures. Happpy Bidding......

We've got some pictures that were emailed to us by montanoinc. He insists that this box is authentic. Take a look at the picture of the green warranty seal. It is very washed out and the red serial number is very poorly printed. Also, take a look at the picture of the back of the box. The Habanos Hallmarks are very poorly stamped, and the factory code is obviously incorrect.

-----------------------------------

Yet again, another seller, montanoinc, proves his stupidity, by stealing the counterfeit picture of another auction. Not only that, but montanoinc is so stupid that he has to copy the description of the auction as well. Checkout his auction.

- FEATURED COUNTERFEIT SELLER: sohi99

sohi99 has a couple of auctions currently up, both are counterfeit. We have emailed him an besides these boxes he has others that he would like to sell off eBay. Not only are both warranty seals placed on incorrectly on the boxes, they both do not have a factory code stamped on the back of the box.

sohi99 has pulled his head out far enough to respond:
I have two boxes of Cohiba Esplendidos and two boxes of Romeo Y Julietta Churchills. I am interested in selling the others off of E-bay if the price is right of course. I am sending you a few other pictures of the Cigars in question. Thanks for checking my ad out.

Dave

sohi99 has pulled his head out far enough to respond:
I want 300.00 per box. A very fair price for these cigars. As far as shipping goes I don't think it would be anymore than 20.00 from here to the states per box regular mail. Personally... I would recommend a courier company, which would be safer, like UPS for speed to get them back into a humidor rapidly because of the value of this product. As far as guarantee on shipping they would be packed for travel (bubble wrap & paper) and will be able to withstand a substantial jarring, but once I ship them I can not be responsible for what may occur when they are out of my posession. Are you also interested in the Romeo Y Juliettas?
David

Ok, asere no hay problema. Cheveron.

readi29 has pulled his head out far enough to respond:
That's right dick head.
You think u r the only one that can get the real stuff?
Ha, ha, ha. I can get them any time at half of what u pay for them> lol

No, dude, we're pretty sure you can get them for LESS than half the price we pay.

-----------------------------------

Update: readi29 May 2, 2002 (1)

readi29 has pulled his head out far enough to respond:
What r u talking about?
These are 100% Cubans

El coño de tu madre.

LOL! I will give this loser credit; he responds quickly and with color.

-----------------------------------

readi29 is a loser two-times over. Not only does he steal a photo for his auction, he steals a photo from a seller who was selling counterfeit Cohibas, who in turn stole that picture from someone who was selling counterfeit Cohibas. What a loser! Hey, but what to you expect, he's from Florida where a great majority of counterfeit boxes come from. "La cuna del coño, ORALÉ!"
