Entry 01: November 18, 2002 : Prehistoric Art
Prehistoric Music of Ireland Flutes, Whistles, Trumpets Along the northern coastal regions, flutes and whistles could be found. It was thought to have been used in hunting parties and ceremonies. Scientist have theroized that ancient flutes and whistles were either made natuarlly by nature or were scultped by men. By placing your fingers certain ways, you can play many different notes. The range of possibilities include the different patterns of covering the holes and the different ways of covering the holes. By placing all these patterns together, many complex and pleasing tones can be produced. However, the only to achieve this is to off course spend many hours practicing. ![]() ![]() ![]() Looking at each of the instruments above, it's easy to conclude that the instuments are old. The way that he instrument is carved out and porportion makes you wonder what it would sound like and what it would be like try and play it. Immediately I would think that it would be hard unless you have played an instrument similar to it's build. When playing an instrument like that, you have to consider the science of it before you can acutally create the art from it. At least that is what I believe. There really isn't much I can say about these intruments other than the fact that many other instuments have been formed from prehistoric intruments such as these. Each present day instrument has been modified with a combination of artistic talent and logical thinking allowing us to play instruments reaching it's musical potential. As instruments are always being improved upon, more music and art will flow to our ears and allow us to fully appreciate nature's gift of the music arts. |
