Life support sustains woman injured in wreck

The Leaf-Chronicle

A 19-year-old woman was on life support at a Nashville hospital Tuesday following a wreck at Peachers Mill Road and 101st Airborne Division Parkway early Tuesday morning.

Andrea Franklin of Fort Campbell was airlifted to Vanderbilt University Medical Center after her Ford station wagon collided with a Mercury Cougar driven by Stephanie Rieforth of Winters Court.

Rieforth, 30, was not injured but was taken to the hospital as a precaution and for a routine blood-alcohol test.

Alcohol doesn't appear to be involved, said police spokesman Lt. Geno Grubbs.

Franklin was driving west on the 101st at about 1:15 a.m. when she swerved into the oncoming lane of traffic, Grubbs said. Rieforth, who was heading north on Peachers Mill Road, collided with Franklin when she turned right onto the parkway.

A Vanderbilt spokesman listed Franklin in critical condition Tuesday afternoon.
