Note About
Please forgive me for the text-centric design.
I know better—I really do. But don't have the time or the tools to incorporate more graphics and implement a more usable layout.
Content is more important to me right now than presentation.

There are four different groups of webpages on my site,
separated by the blue lines below.

I'm Designing & Building
|
I have a mountain property in northern Colorado. I'm designing an eco-friendly house:
solar, earth-bermed, natural lighting, low resource usage (water & electric, as well
as building materials). I want to break ground this spring (2005).
My long-term plan is to keep building homes, living in them for at least two years—to get the big tax break—and teaching others to do the same along the way. This is likely the biggest contribution to sustainability I'll make.
|
I'm Dabbling
|
Bikes: fun, highly efficient, health-promoting, and affordable. I believe they'll be a big key to sustainability. How are you going to afford to drive your 3000-pound car when gasoline is $10-20 per gallon?
I have a long history with wheeled vehicles, and I'm still continually thinking up fun & useful leg-and-electric-powered vehicles to build. It's a fun hobby, which may someday turn into more of a vocation: • Electric/pedaled cruiser bicycle. • Suspension go-kart. • Electric/pedaled three-wheel recumbent. • Electric/pedaled chopper-bike. |
I'm Searching
|
When I'm taking breaks from building the solar-house and bikes, I meet people
and we chat. I have found that most are very interested in my project(s).
And not too surprisingly, most don't know a lot about solar homes, eco-friendliness,
and the larger topic of "sustainability"—there's that word again.

I'm Still Writing—
|
I have fun documenting what I'm doing (on this website, and in other writings).
As a background task—currently way, way in the background—I'm still slowly fleshing out articles on sustaining Planet Earth as a healthy place for animals—including humans—and plants to live. (Insects and other quickly mutating life forms can fend for themselves.) • A More Deliberate Way of Living. • Daily Eco-Friendly Living Choices. • The Parenting License. I'm also finishing a book, but that's a longer-term project. It started out as supporting materials for my life-coaching practice, but seemed to naturally expand in to a more complete work. • The Pyramid Process. I'll finish it after the house-building and my two custom cycles are completed. |

• Favorite Books. • Favorite Websites. • Favorite Role Models. • Favorite Family & Friends. |
Constructivism |
A belief system which holds that we all create our own reality by: how we interpret events, and by how we
build our lives. Also a "teaching" approach that helps learners look at big-picture perspectives, issues
of emerging relevance, and meaning in their lives.
|
Comprehensivism |
A strategy, proposed by Buckminster Fuller, which seeks for the individual to gain a wide and deep understanding
of what's happening in the world (rather than a specialist viewpoint), and thus the individual can make the most
valuable contributions to the sustainability of humanity.

About Mark |
I started this portion of the website as somewhat of a "resume" for prospective employers and clients/consultees.
It has evolved into a brief summary of my life, organized around: work experiences; creative projects; peak experiences; and favorite people and info sources.
I've organized it around my Pyramid Process,
and also from a high-level/work to low-level/personal flow:
|
Memorable Moments in My Life |
I began listing peak experiences in my life, roughly in chronological order. After I had several, I thought of how I could increase the number and frequency of them in my life in the future. That's partly where I came up with the idea of a "pyramid" and its components. |
