She was once a beautiful girl ... where her hair was her pride. This has cause Athena (a God..)to be jealous of her beauty & became ill-favour of her. Her beauty has seduced Poseidon (another God), but unfortunately, they did something pretty bad (censored ..) in one of Athena's temple. Such actions has brought to Athena's anger & Medusa was turned into a Gorgon by Athena herself & thrown into a place where sun never sets (it's a myth .. ok?). Her hair was transformed into thousands of writhing snakes & was made so ugly that - any men who gazed upon her eyes would turn into stone.

I always thought that her snaky locks looks more like a crown rather than an ugly snaky head. It is where her pride stood & made her one of the most famous monster in the world. That's why I named this image "Medusa's Crown". There's a lot of source about Medusa's myth. And this image doesn't really reflects herself actually. It was said that she had tusks & had a pair of wings. But who cares, I haven't really seen her before (else I wouldn't be here..) - so I made her looking like what I can imagine.

Medusa's human figure & snakes (body & hair) was modelled in Poser 3. The rest are done in Bryce 4. Torch, Medusa's hair, glowing eye & her deadly breath was done in Adobe Photoshop 5.0 (2D touchups .. ).

This is the first time I actually used so much 2D touchups to a 3D image - and I am using only a mouse ! Enjoyed it very much ...
