I think this is probably my favorite of all Vonnegut's writings, although it's hard to separate this out from the likes of Slapstick, and Hocus Pocus, still I just love the way Vonnegut sees us for who we truly are and puts in or face to look at. This is a story about an aging writer Kilgore Trout, who finds to his horror, that a Midwest car dealer is taking his fiction writing as truth. Breakfast of Champions is a murderously funny satire. Vonnegut takes a look at war, sex, racism, success, politics, and pollution in America as only Vonnegut can. A funny and truthful look at the messed up world we live in. It's vintage Vonnegut! |
