Beginners

This is a good place to start if you are new to mp3s.  Just follow these steps to learn about mp3s.

Step 1:  First, you need an mp3 player so you can play mp3s.  The most commonly used mp3 player right now is Winamp. You can download it here.  When thats done, install Winamp.

Step 2:  Now you need a song to play.  You can download this sample.  Once you've finished downloading, open Winamp and press the "load song" button (it's the triangle with a line under it), or you can just press "L."  Find your song and double click on it for the song to play.

Step 3:  Now that you know how to use Winamp and play songs, you can look for more songs.  It is possible to find songs on the net at regular http sites, but it is much easier to find some good ftp sites and download from there.  An ftp site is basically when someone gives you access to download from a part of their computer.  To get into ftp sites, you need an ftp client; if you don't have one, get one.  Once you have one, you can check out my own ftp site and download mp3s from there, or you can search for a specific band/song, with my own mp3 search engine, to see what ftp sites have what you are looking for.

Step 4:  Lastly, you can get new skins and plugins for your Winamp.   You can play around with Winamp to see what everything does.  You can also download another mp3 player and use it.

Congratulations!  Now you know how to use mp3 players and find songs.  If you have anymore questions, you can visit my faq page.
