About KGO

If Cox Broadcasting's KTVU wasn't around, KGO would definitely be the Bay Area's news leader, in terms of ratings.  In my book, their newscasts aren't as good as KPIX or KRON.  What about KNTV, you ask?  Well, KNTV's a lost cause.  Still, KGO's 6:00pm and 11:00pm news simply cannot be beat.  But, KTVU's "The Six O'clock News" is quickly gaining on the first half-hour of ABC 7 News at 6:00, and KTVU wins the late night race with their "The Ten O'clock News," which pulls in more viewers than any other Bay Area late night newscast.  KGO tops all of the 11:00pm newscasts, however.  I think what's holding KGO back is its extremely dated set.  They really REALLY need something new.  And not just a "sprucing up," but a whole new set.  Something like what KABC has currently would be very nice for KGO, and I think the on-air talent would appreciate it as well.
