Ichthyosis..... There is so much to say and share with others. I put this Web site together to seriously discuss a topic that is not well known to most people. Ichthyosis, I have it and have overcome it's painful invasion, embarrassment, and many years of allowing it to control and at times limit everything I do. My name is Mark and I have Ichthyosis. (Autosomal recessive lamellar ichthyosis with Desquamation) Previously diagnosed as Autosomal dominant ichthyosis vulgaris. Although today you would never know it. I spent many years as a youngster along with my twin brother going to doctors and having to avoid people, due to the way we looked. Our Skin was dry, crusty and abnormal compared to others and we were labeled "creatures", "Scaly Fish" and other derogatory names from youngsters and others who didn't understand or know anything about Ichthyosis. Today I am not ashamed of what I look like and I spent many years and have tried many different techniques to get rid of the "Ich". Happily I can honestly say....The monster is gone, or at least it appears he is. Through trial & error I have found what seems to work, too get rid of it and not just follow what traditional tharepies call for. Most therapies and or doctors only treat the presenting condition, Therefore the therapy they offer or suggest only reflects the individual manifestations and the individual severity of the disease. My goal was to get rid of it or at least control the damaging affects and appearances of Ichthyosis. This web site is not a Hoax, rather it is something I thought important enough to share with others who suffer from the same thing. This Site is my own story & observations, as well as my own remedies and theories about people and the condition known as Ichthyosis. Too many years were spent going to professionals, doctors and clinics to find out that they know very little to nothing about how to treat people with this condition. At times, not even diagnosing it correctly and simply offering soothing remedies that cost a fortune with no positive results or benefits. This site is not meant to give others false hopes or quick fixes, it took a long time for my methods and regimen to work. It may not work for all people but I thought that after so many years of living in "Hell" and finding a way to control it is quite remarkable and worth sharing with those of you who have Ichthyosis and would like to try an alternative.
