Since Shannon's debut release on PHARAOH, numerous individuals have contacted our office wanting to know about other releases by this already popular artist. Shannon recorded a 6-song EP CD in Nashville, Steve McClintock producing, but the EP has not been released on the market to date. Thus far, her only releases have been "Be Love" and now, "Make Me A Believer" on the new GOLD RUSH COUNTRY compilation CD. As is the case with any record label, PHARAOH is always eager and interested in learning what the public thinks about their debut artists, so if the fan mail receieved so far is any indication of potential marketing success, Shannon's future in country music as a recording artist looks highly promising, and we can assure her fans that a full length album is almost a certainty for sometime in the near future. Although her favorite film is Cinderella ("because she gets the wardrobe, the car, the house, the guy and best of all--sweet revenge"), Shannon Mock is more like Cinderella's fairy godmother. With an assuring vocal appeal, Shannon takes a song and waves a golden wand over it and spills a spell of romance and an added dash of absolute goodness, so that by the time she's through we've become beloved of Shannon Mock and the song "Be Love" (Steven McClintock & Debbie Cochran). "Be Love" was Shannon's debut single on the Pharaoh label in the summer of 1999, and as we expected the public fell immediately in love with the song and most certainly with Shannon Mock as the song hit the top of the charts throughout Europe. Now, Shannon is back for a command encore performance on GOLD RUSH COUNTRY, VOL. #6 singing her heart out in an uptempo song this time entitled, "MAKE ME A BELIEVER" (Shelly Bauerly-Bunch & Rob Crosby: Shelly Bauerly Music, Crutchfield Music, Warner, Tamberline, BMI). "MAKE ME A BELIEVER" is all about the age-old fears most of us have had at one time or another after being deeply hurt in a relationship - we often lose faith in the possibility of anything truly meaningful and lasting in the way of a second relationship ever crossing our path again. So frequently, once we've been hurt in a relationship, we find ourself much too reluctant to get involved (and hurt) a second time around, and Shannon is no exception to this "naturally human" reservation, as she notes throughout the song, "MAKE ME A BELIEVER"!.
A native of New Orleans, Louisiana, Shannon presently makes her home in California where she entertains in clubs from Los Angeles to San Francisco. With a true country artist's sense of style, she brings to country music a depth of heart and soul that intensely makes "Be Love" and "Make Be A Believer" instant favorites.
Shannon's early musical influences were Linda Rondstadt, Bette Midler and Crystal Gayle. She admires Trisha Yearwood "for her heartfelt, clear, pure sound" (and) Wynonna Judd "for her ability to integrate blues and jazz into her already amazing music".
Some day Shannon would like to marry and have children and live in Nashville, and own a "cool Streamliner for touring". Reaching those goals shouldn't be a problem for Shannon, as anyone with her alluring spell should be able to satisfy her ambitions easy enough.
In a world that too often seems bereft of humanity, we're sure you'll agree both Shannon Mock and her newest Pharaoh release is right for our time.
