A Day In The Country!
With summer right around the corner, the days getting longer, I know you're itching to gather up a couple of your girlfriends, leave the noise and hustle of the city behind and venture out to the country.... Road Trip!

Avoid the trendy trappings offered when you venture east, west and south of the city, head north instead.  Carstairs & Didsbury are still charming little towns where good deals can be still be found when shopping for antiques or vintage Home Decor items.  Garage sales, flea markets, and Thrift stores still hold the potential for finding valuable treasures and some vintage items highly sought after are still cheap and a dime a dozen in the north country.

Just hit Deerfoot Trail, head north and stay on the hiway until you see a sign that says "Crossfield, Carstairs, Acme"  It's an overpass, turn left at the top, cross the Hiway, and turn right onto the 2A.  The 2A the easiest way to get to Carstairs.  About 7 minutes down the 2A you'll come to Carstairs and a 4-way stop, turn left, cross the track, and you'll come to another 4-way stop.  This is our "Main Street".  If you keep going straight, you'll head out of town rather quickly and find Mountain View Pet Resort.  If you turn right, you be on our "Main Street".

The Barefoot Robin Highly Recommends:

Mountain View Pet Resort:  I'm sure you'll agree that your pets are as entitled to some fresh country air as you are.  Whether you need a sweet place to board your pet while on holidays, or if they are of the furry variety and long overdue for a salon treatment, Mountain View is a great place to go.  The owner of the resort lives on the property and LOVES all animals, so you know your beloved pet is going to be treated well in your absence.  If you're coming out for the day, why not drop off your baby for a bath and grooming session while you investigate the country side?  The facilities are appropriately rustic, the rates far more reasonable than the city, and the tender loving care your pet will receive is alone worth the drive out to the country.  Call Ahead!  337-2959

Coach' Pub: A great little place to stop for a refreshing drink and perhaps to overhear some town gossip, Coach's Pub is offering us a "Barefoot Robin Special"  The special consists of a ½ order of Nachos with all the fixins and a cocktail, $5.99.  What better way to clear the road dust from your palate?  Stop in and say Hi to Franny, Pearl or Carrie, the Mother and Daughters team that own and operate Coach's.  Franny would like you all to know that Every 2nd Saturday is Karaoke night at Coach's, and the last Saturday of every month is "Name That Tune". Come early, both events make for a popular night out in Carstairs!

Nothing Like It Under The Sun: At the first bank you come to, turn left, on the right hand side you'll come to a quaint little shop where all manner and style of decorative accessories can be viewed and purchased.
