the first Chinese students who would graduate arrive in the US.

IN 1854
the case "People vs. Hall" stated that Chinese can't give testimony in court.

IN 1854
Yung Wing is the first Chinese graduate from an American university

IN 1854
1st Japanese is naturalized as an American citizen.

IN 1865
Central Pacific Railroad hires 10,000 Chinese workers

IN 1870
172 Chinese in California census.

IN 1885
segregated "Oriental School." Is built

IN 1878
Chinese aren't eligible for citizenship.

IN 1884
Exclusion Law requires a "certificate" for reentry.

IN 1888
immigration of Chinese laborers banned for 20 years.

IN 1889
Exclusion Laws are constitutional

IN 1892
the Geary Law excludes Chinese laborers for additional 10 years.

IN 1904
Exclusion Laws were made indefinite.

Asian Americans are ineligible to buy or lease land.
