And Yet Still More Random Thoughts

Clowns

I have this theory that clowns are their own sub-species of human, like how in the X-Men there are these mutants and they call themselves homo superior, like they're their own species. I imagine that clowns are actually an offshoot of humanity, a chink in the evolutionary chain. I don't know how or why they would develop chalky white skin, huge red bulbous noses or gigantic feet, but I suppose it could be a defense against predators in their natural environment. Or something like that.

It would be a good science fiction movie where clowns try to take over the world because they believe themselves superior to humans. There could be really serious people living underground in the resistance trying to overthrow their clown oppressors.

Clown Planet!!!

Clowns are freaky the way they laugh and fall down all the time, but even so it wasn't until these last few years that I ever heard of anyone actually being afraid of clowns. I know a lot of people who say that they're afraid of clowns, but I think that they're all lying. For some reason they seem to think it's cool to be afraid of clowns. As for me, if I see a clown, I want to go kick him in the nuts, but I'm not afraid of him.

I really do know a guy who's afraid of midgets, but that's another story.

Even though I knd of understand clowns and what they are and the place that they hold in society, it's difficult to imagine a rational person wanting to be a clown. They're as universally disliked as lawyers, and I don't think they make nearly the money that lawyers do. And, while people might have a personal dislike for lawyers, most of them seem to at least recognize the necessity of lawyers, and are much less likely to kick a lawyer in the yambag with no provocation.

Maybe it's because they don't seem like real people, and yet they walk around in the real world interacting with us. They may as well all be wearing signs that say "Kick me as hard as you can".

The clowns with the huge smiles on their faces are really bad, but even worse are the frowny-faced ones with cartoony tears painted on their cheeks. Maybe they're just playing on the fact that everyone hates them and will enjoy watching them suffer. I can't imagine any other reason why there would even be frowny-faced clowns, or what would motivate someone to assume the role.

There's a clown college in Florida but I can't imagine what they teach there, unless they have courses in how to cram 25 people (some of them on stilts) into one tiny car. Most of the jobs that you see clowns taking are very physical, like policeman or fireman, and hardly the type of pursuit requiring a higher degree of education. Lots of clowns are hoboes and tramps, which also seems to be a common career choice for clowns.

Most clowns are not very timid. They're always jumping around and doing cartwheels and honking these big horns. This is surprising, when you would expect they'd get beaten up enough to discourage that type of behavior.
