Texas Rigged Plastic Worms

The Texas Rig is the most widely used method  of fishing a plastic worm.

Once you learn how to set it up, the worm can be fished in just about any situation, in any type of cover.

The hard part is getting the "feel" of a big fish inhaling this popular bait. When you get the feel, this lure is tough to beat.

  • First thread the bullet sinker onto the line with the point  towards the rod.
  • Next, tie the hook directly to the line. There are several good hooks to choose from, just make sure that it's sharp.
  • Insert the point of the hook into the head of the worm almost to the bend.
  • Bring the point of the hook outside of the worm and slide the worm up the shank of the hook.
  • Before going up the whole length of the hook, turn the hook over so that the point is again facing the worm.
  • Now slide the worm up the hook and bury the hook eye and knot inside the worm.
  • Grab the body of the worm and bend it up so that when you insert the hook point into the body and pull the worm back down a bit, the worm will hang perfectly straight on the hook.
  • Now toss it into the thickest weed clumps you can find and hang on.
