"Before starting any adventurous activity Leaders & Instructors must apply to be authorised to lead or supervise the party. They have to show that they have the skills to work with young people and also that they are competent in the chosen activity. A practical assessment of these skills is usually required. We work very closely with National Governing bodies [such as the British Canoe Union and the Mountain Leader Training Board] and our Leaders / Instructors are encouraged to continue their training - to gain nationally recognised qualifications in the chosen activity."

The Hampshire Scouts' Mountain Team the voluntary training team within Hampshire Scouts for Mountaineering, Hillwalking, Rock Climbing, Walls Towers, Trekking etc. In line with the National Associations's Policy to encourage leaders / instructors to gain nationally recognised qualifications, Hampshire Scouts' Mountain Team have sought accreditation for their training courses with a number of Sport Governing Bodies and currently has approval to run courses by the Mountain Leader Training Board (MLTB, centre No 0912 ), the National Navigation Award Scheme (NNAS), the Central Council for Physical Recreation (CCPR) and the Scout & Guide Association for 1st Response training.
