On 09 Nov 1838 Reg on 16 Nov 1841 David purchased 142 acres of land on Sandy Mush Creek from James Davis which include the Mill and Plantation, witnessed by Aaron Treadway (90).
David was listed next in the 1840 Buncombe Co., Southern Division, North Carolina Census with 2 males 10-14, 1 male 15-19, 1 male 50-59, 1 female 5-9, 1 female 10-14, 1 female 15-19, and 1 female 50-59 (pg. 165, line 27) (59).
Lastly David was listed in the 1850 Buncombe Co., North Carolina Census. David; 64, Susan; 22, Rachel; 58, Eliza; 18 (pg. 323a, household 1731) (60). In this Census the taker named the head of household first, sons, wife, daughters, steps or grandchildren. Why did he put Rachel after Susan? An error, indication of another family? Just an observation. David purchased land (unspecified) on the N and So. side of Walnut Creek, adjoining Candler's, mentions John Peek's line from G. W. Candler, Exec. of Z. Candler on 21 Oct 1851 reg on Fall Term 1852 Madison Co., witnessed by A. J. Davis (60). David sold 100 acres of land on the So. side of Walnut Creek joining his own land to James Davis on 18 Apr 1855, reg on 24 Apr 1858 Madison Co. (391). On 10 Oct 1857 David granted 130 acres of land to his son Andrew Jackson Davis on the North side of the French Broad River adjoining David's land (375). David married Rachel _____, born 1792. David died intestate on 14 Feb 1859 and is buried in the Crisman-Davis Cemetery, Marshall, Madison Co., North Carolina. David's Estate was valued at $2,536. 78. There were many dealings with David's children regarding his Estate. His children were: Samuel, Elizabeth, Priscilla, Levina, James, Mary Ann, Nelson, Andrew Jackson, Susanna and Eliza Jane.
Elijah Davis
Elijah Davis was born 1765-1784
(Per 1810 Census). His family was listed in the 1810 Buncombe Co., North Carolina Census with 1 male 26-44, 3 females under 10, and 1 female 26-44 (pg 149, line 8) (9). There was an Elijah Davis listed in the 1830 Macon Co., North Carolina Census which could be him. This is all of the information that I have on Elijah.
George Davis
George Davis was born 1765-1784 (Per 1810 Census), son of Uriah Davis.
George was listed in the 1810 Buncombe Co., North Carolina Census with 2 males under 10, 2 males 10-16, 1 male 26-45, 3 females under 10, 1 female 10-16, and 1 female 26-45 (pg 274, line 23) (9). George purchased 100 acres of land on the main fork of Hominy Creek from Uriah Davis on 17 Dec 1810, witnessed by Daniel Davis (103). On 21 Oct 1810: Two deeds from George Davis to David Davis one for 50 acres and the other for 75 acres both dated 21 day Oct 1810. Was proven in open court by the oath of James Morgan the subscribing witness to each and was ordered to be registered (120). October Court Session 1812, Harmon Davis was ordered by Court to oversee the road from Casebolt’s Ford on French Broad River to Sandy Mush. Workers included: James Davis, John Davis, George Davis, Aaron Davis, Nathaniel Davis and David Davis (274).
I could not find George in the 1820 Census records. On 02 Jul 1823 George sold 50 acres of land on the waters of South Hominy to Daniel Davis (121). On the same day George sold 95 acres of land to Daniel Davis on South Hominy Creek (122). On 12 Jul 1824 George sold 40 acres of land on South Hominy Creek to David Davis - one of the lines of the deed was in between George Davis and Uriah Davis (123). George granted power of attorney to Thomas Jones of Buncombe Co., North Carolina on 12 Jun 1827. In that document George mentioned his father Uriah and mother Elizabeth, as well as his brother Daniel, all deceased. The document also mentioned that George was living in McMinn Co., Tennessee (166). I did find a George Davis listed in the Dyer Co., Tennessee Census records for 1830, 1840, 1850, and 1860. That George was born ca 1782 in North Carolina according to the 1850 Census.
More Information on George before 1810...
Looking at the 1800 Salisbury, Iredell Co., North Carolina Census, George was listed with 2 males under 10, 1 male 26-45, 2 females under 10, and 1 female 26-45 (pg. 629, line 8) (224).
