Uriah Davis, Jr.
Uriah Davis, Jr., son of Uriah and Elizabeth Davis was born ca. 1790 in North Carolina (Per 1850 Census).
Uriah, Jr. was listed in the 1810 Iredell Co., North Carolina Census with 1 male under 10, 1 male 26-44, 1 female under 10, and 1 female 26-44 (pg.168, line 16) (225). There was a Uriah Davis that married Sebrey Norman on 05 Nov 1811 in Lincoln Co., North Carolina (178). Uriiah, Jr. purchased 40 acres of land in Iredell Co., North Carolina joining Benjamin Bentley and Solomon Davis's land on 26 Oct 1812 witnessed by Elijah Davis (226) . Uriah,Jr. purchased 100 acres of land on Glady Fork of Hominy Creek on 17 Jan 1814 (179). A deed from Jacob Chadwick to Uriah Davis for 200 acres dated the third day of October 1817 was Proven In Open Court and Ordered to be Registered (200 acres on on Glady Fork, registered 07 Jul 1823) (180).
Uriah, Jr. was listed in the 1820 Buncombe Co., North Carolina Census with 2 males under 10, 1 male 26-45, 3 females under 10, and 1 female 16-26 (pg. 122, line 17) (13). On 13 Apr 1827,what appears to be the children of Uriah, Sr. and Elizabeth Davis and their spouses; Mary and her husband Isaac Goodwin, Hannah and husband James Warren, Rachel and her husband Robert Poston, Benjamin, George, James and Daniel sold unto Uriah Davis, Jr., on both sides of South Hominy and another tract of land on the south branch of Hominy Creek except the interest and Estate of John Davis and Heirs and Martin Fulbright and wife - Not recorded until 01 Jul 1901 (214).
Uriah, Jr. was listed next in the 1830 Buncombe Co., North Carolina Census with 2 males under 5, 1 male 10-14, 1 male 30-39, 1 female under 5, 1 female 10-14, 1 female 15-19, and 1 female 30-39 (pg. 244, line 06) (58). On 07 Oct 1838 Uriah, Jr. and his wife Emily (Howell, daughter of Abraham Howell) sold 6 1/4 acres of land located on the Little Neuss River in Wayne Co., North Carolina to John W. Vasser of Wayne Co., North Carolina. This deed listed Emily, her brother Zealous Howell and father Abraham Howell (191). On 09 Apr 1832 Uriah, Jr. sold 200 acres on Glady Fork to Hiram Carland (192). On 04 Nov 1832 Uriah, Jr. sold another 100 acres of land on Glady Fork of the Hominy to Hiram Carland/Garland, the land once belonged to David Miller (193). On 19 Apr 1832 Reg on 27 Jun 1832 Uriah, Jr. and Daniel Davis sold land (unspecified) to Charles and Eliza (Davis - maiden name from son Frances W. O'Kelley's death certificate) O'Kelley located on So. fork on Hominy Creek, mentions land where John Davis once lived. The sale was not to include interest or the Estate of John Davis (194), also sold were two tracts of land that were bound to Charles & Eliza Davis O'Kelley on the So. fork on Hominy Creek. On 11 Jun 1838 Uriah, Jr. sold 50 acres of land on Glady Fork on Hominy Creek to Seberon M Bradley (195). Lastly, Uriah, Jr. sold 50 acres of land on Glady Fork on Hominy Creek to Charles W. O'Kelley on 19 Feb 1840 (196). Lastly, Uriah, Jr. sold 50 acres of land on Glady Fork on Hominy Creek to Charles W. O'Kelley on 19 Feb 1840.
Uriah, Jr. was listed in the 1840 Buncombe Co., South Dist., North Carolina Census (listed as U.) with 2 males 5-9, 1 male 10-14, 1 male 50-59, 1 female under 5, 1 female 5-9, 2 females 15-19, and 1 female 40-49 (pg. 156, line 22) (59).

Uriah, Jr. was listed in the 1860 Buncombe Co., North Carolina Census records; Uriah; 75, Millie; 65, Burton; 33, William; 30 (pg. 309, household 616) (189).
Uriah, Jr. was listed lastly in the 1870 Hominy Twp. 3, Buncombe Co., North Carolina Census living with his son Josiah Burton Davis's family: Uriah; 80 (pg. 301b, household 193) (190). It appears that Uriah, Jr. died sometime in 1873. There were many lengthy petitions from Uriah, Jr's heirs to his Estate. Starting on 25 Dec 1863 Samuel (D) Davis (Cock Co., TN), Rebecca A. Taylor, two of Uriah's children petitioned the Probate Court inquire into the the state of their father's mind. Other probate papers started in 1873 and continued thru 1877. Included children in those probate papers were: M. A. (Minta) Penland, Catherine O'Kelley (Pinkney O'Kelley), Zilpha Pearson (W. D. Pearson), J(osiah) B(urton) Davis, U(riah) W. Davis, Harriet McCarson (Wm. G. McCarson), Evaline Moore (Wm. Moore), Anna Davis, Hannah Bradley, Eliza Jane Davis (daughter of Abraham Davis, dec'd), and Thomas Lindsay, minor (Son of Martha Davis Lindsay), James Davis (dec'd) (181).
Daniel Davis
Daniel Davis was born 1794-1802 (Per 1820 Census). He was listed in the 1820 Buncombe Co., North Carolina Census with 1 male 10-16, 1 male 18-26, and 1 female 45+ (pg. 122, line 18) (13).

Daniel was listed lastly in the 1880 Upper Hominy, Buncombe Co., North Carolina Census: Daniel; 83, Sarah; 48 (197). According to Find A Grave, Mary Polly (Warren) Davis was born in 1799 and died on 23 Jul 1865. She was the daughter of James Warren and is buried in the Pisgah United Methodist Church Cemetery, Candler, Buncombe Co., North Carolina (198).
David Davis
David Davis was born 1794 (Per 1850 Census). He was listed in the 1820 Buncombe Co., North Carolina Census with 1 male 18-26, 2 females under 10, and 1 female 16-26 (13). On 12 Jul 1824 David purchased 40 acres of land on Hominy Creek to the mouth of Stoney Fork from George Davis; this land was conveyed to George from Uriah Davis (123). On 13 Jan 1826 David purchase 5 acres of land on the south fork of Hominy Creek joining his line, Peggy Davis's line, and Daniel Davis's line (199).
David was listed next in the 1830 Buncombe Co., North Carolina Census with 1 male 30-40, 1 female under 5, 1 female 5-10, 1 female 10-15, and 1 female 30-40 (pg. 244, line 05) (58). David purchased 200 acres of land on Stoney Fork on South Hominy Creek joining the Upper Saw Gap on 04 Dec 1834 (200).

Candler sold 50 acres of land on Low Branch to Uriah W. Davis (201). On 16 Oct 1869 David sold 2 acres of land on Stoney Fork on Hominy Creek to Francis W. O'Kelley (202). On 19 Oct 1869 David purchased 50 acres of land on Stoney Fork on Hominy Creek adjoining David's land and Thomas Foster's land from George W. Candler(203).
David and his family were listed in the 1870 Hominy Twp 3, Buncombe Co., North Carolina Census: David; 70, Eliza; 37,Ida; 2 (pg. 301b, household 196)(190). On 14 Feb 1872 David and his wife Eliza sold 30 acres of land on Stoney Fork on Hominy Creek to Mira (McDowell) Holland - On 11 Dec 1885, Eliza Davis wife of David a subscribing witness to the aforementioned deed stated her husband David was deceased (Registered on 21 Dec 1885 (204). On 18 Feb 1872 David and his wife Eliza sold 94 acres of land on Stoney Fork on Hominy Creek on the west side of the French Broad River to J. W. Roberson - Registered on 28 Oct 1885 (205). David died intestate ca 1876 as Silas M. Morgan the Administrator of David's Estate was licensed to collect debts for David's Estate. Silas sold 80 acres of land on Stoney Fork on Hominy Creek to W. J. Robinson on 06 Mar 1876 - Registered on 04 Nov 1885 (207). Also on 06 Mar 1876 Silas sold 4 acres of land known as the Mill Tract to Jesse T. Israel. Jesse then assigned and transferred the deed to Hannah R. Warren - Registered 13 Mar 1889 (208).
On 24 Jan 1880 Silas Morgan sold 100 acres of land on Stoney Fork on Hominy Creek to Jesse T. Israel - Registered on 24 Jan 1890 (209). On 08 Sep 1885 200 acres of land on Hominy Creek among others were sold to Henry J. Warren by Silas Morgan on 03 Jun 1885 - Registered on 08 Sep 1885 (206). On 03 Apr 1890 Silas sold 78 acres of land located on Hominy Creek to Eliza Foster (Eliza was David's wife, she married E(lbert) C. Foster according to this deed). This land was originally sold on 06 Mar 1876 to Thomas Foster. Thomas then struck out and sold land to Eliza. Thomas and Eliza amicably divided the land (210). According to Find A Grave: Eliza "Liza" was Eliza Holland, born 1838, d: 1908, buried in the O'Kelley-Foster Cemetery, Candler, Buncombe Co., North Carolina (211). Also listed in one of the Petitions in David's Estate papers it lists Eliza and Eliza Jane. David and Eliza had one child named Ida May Davis. Ida was born in 1867 (212). Note that David was married first to a Sarah _____, born ca 1800 in North Carolina (Per 1850 and 1860 Census records).

John W. Davis born 1800 (Per 1850 Census), North Carolina, the son of Isaac Davis. On 01 Jan 1823 a deed from John Davis to Samuel Allison was approved in Open Court (345). On 17 May 1823 John purchased 100 acres of land on Lambs Creek from William D. Smith - Reg on 01 Jun 1827 (359). Also on 17 May 1823, John along with other family members sold land (unspecified) on Lambs Creek to David Haddon - Reg on 01 Jun 1827 (346). On 17 May 1823 John along with other family members sold 50 acres on Lambs Creek to Javann Trammel - Reg on 18 Jun 1826 (360).
John was probably the John Davis listed in the 1830 Buncombe Co., North Carolina Census with 2 males -5, 2 males 5-9, 1 male 30-39, 1 female -5, 1 female 30-39, and 1 female 50-59 (58). On 27 Feb 1830 John purchased 10 acres of land on Davidsons River from Benjamin Davidson - Reg on 04 Dec 1832 (351). On 12 Oct 1831 John purchased 50 acres of land from Erixina Davidson beginning at Davidson's Stone Corner- Reg on 10 Apr 1832 (350). On 07 Mar 1834 John sold 10 acres on Davidson River to William Deaver (353). On 22 Sep 1836 John purchased 100 acres of land on Lambs Creek from William D. Smith - Reg on 18 Jan 1838 (352).
John was probably the John Davis listed in the 1840 Haywood Co., North Carolina Census with 1 male -5, 2 males 5-9, 2 males 10-14, 1 male 20-29, 1 female -5, 2 females 5-9, 2 males 10-14, 1 female 40-49 (pg. 122, line 9) (144).

John left a Will in which he name his wife; Jane, children; Eleazar D., Isaac H. (dec'd), John S. Davis, William B. Davis, Rhoda Jane (John Bryson), Margaret (C. S. Davis), Mary (Woodford Zachary), Sarah Sophia (David F. Brown), and his Executors as Eleazar D. Davis and David F. Brown (354).
According to Find A Grave John is John Whitfield Davis, born 24 May 1800, died 12 Jun 1862, married Sarah Jane Allison, both buried in the East LaPorte Cemetery, East LaPorte, Jackson Co., North Carolina (349).
Jesse Davis
Jesse Davis, born 1780-1790 (Per 1830 Census) was listed in the 1830 Buncombe Co., North Carolina Census living next door to Richard F. Davis with 1 male under 5, 1 male 10-15, 2 males 15-20, and 1 male 40-50 (pg. 212, line 15) (58).
Richard F. Davis
Richard F. Davis, born 1780-1790 (Per 1830 Census) was listed in the 1830 Buncombe Co., North Carolina Census living next door to Jesse Davis with 1 male 5-9, 1 male 10-15, 1 male 15-19, 1 male 40-50, 1 female 10-14, 1 female 15-20, and 1 female 40-50 (pg. 212, line 16) (58).
Evan Davis
Evan Davis was born 1793 (Mortality Schedule). Evan purchased 100 acres of land on Big Pine Creek at the mouth of the north fork (and Thomas Pain's Improvement) on 06 Jan 1826 (242). On 15 Jul 1828 Evan purchased 100 aces of land on Little Pine Creek from Nathaniel Davis - Registered 28 Mar 1837 (244). I could not find Evan in the 1820 Buncombe Co., North Carolina Census (May be the 16-26 year old male living with James Davis ?- Assumption). He was listed in the 1830 Buncombe Co., North Carolina Census with 1 male 15-20, 1 male 30-40, 1 female 5-10, and 1 female 30-40 (pg. 264, line 05) (58). On 16 Aug 1835 Evan purchased 200 acres of land on PawPaw Creek, aka Worley Creek or Phillip's Creek on the west side of the French Broad River from John Hawkins, witnessed by James and Solomon Davis (243). Lastly, on 07 Nov 1838 Evan Davis (of Hamilton Co., Tennessee) sold 50 acres of land on the French Broad River between Big Pine Creek and PawPaw Creek where John Hawkins settled, Zachariah Candler witnessed by David Davis (244).
Evan was listed in the 1840 Hamilton Co., Tennessee Census with 1 male under 5, 1 male 20-29, 1 male 40-49, 1 male *70-79 (*Could this be James, son of Uriah, Sr? Speculation), 2 females 15-19, and 2 females 40-49 (245). Evan was the Post Master of Zion Hill, Hamilton Co., Tennessee.
Evan was listed in the 1850 Hamilton Co., Tennessee Mortality Schedule (Jul 1850 from Consumption, 57, born in NC, listed as Ivin) (246). From looking at the 1840 and 1850 Census records it appears that Solomon Davis may be Evan's son as both Evan (1840) and Solomon (1850) were living next door to Peter Felkner.
Harrison Davis
Harrison Davis, born 1802 (Per 1850 Census) was listed in the 1830 Buncombe Co., North Carolina Census with 2 males under 5, 2 males 5-10, 1 male 20-30, 1 female 5-10, and 1 female 20-30, living next door to James Davis (pg. 264, line 17) (58). On 27 Sep 1832 Harrison purchased 159 acres of land on Turkey Creek from John Wilson, near Joseph WiIson, Abraham Davis, and Meshack Davis lines - Registered 27 Jan 1836 (247).
Harrison and his family were listed next in the 1840 District 824, Murray Co., Georgia Census with 1 male under 5, 1 male 5-9, 2 males 10-14, 1 male 15-19, 1 male 30-39, 1 female under 5, 1 female 15-19, and 1 female 30-39 (pg. 265a, line 26) (248). On 03 Mar 1841 Harrison purchased land on Haw's Branch near Joseph Wilson's line, and Abraham Davis's line from Jonathan Wilson (249).

According to Find A Grave Harrison was born on 30 May 1802, died 26 Mar 1890, Sandy Mush, Buncombe Co., North Carolina, married twice, first to Elizabeth _____ and had 6 children, then second to Louisa Jane Noland and had 6 more children. Buried in the Piney Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, Marshall, Madison Co., North Carolina. Children listed: David, George, Molly, John, Harriet, Harrison, Louise, and Martha Davis (254).

John W. Davis, born 1806 (Per 1850 Census), North Carolina. He was listed in the 1830 Buncombe Co., North Carolina Census with 1 male -5, 1 male 20-30, 1 female -5, and 1 female 20-30 (pg. 265, line 12) (58).
Unfortunately, I could not find John in the 1840 Census records.

Elizabeth was listed in the 1880 Sandy Mush, Madison Co., North Carolina Census: Elizabeth; 75, NC, Mary Meadows; 25, NC, Baxter Meadows; 4, NC, Matilda Meadows; 1, NC (pg. 88, household 59) (318).
John died intestate ca 1871. Elizabeth was listed in many of those Estate papers. Also mentioned were son Abraham T. Davis, Louisa Meadows (decd),
Thomas Davis
Thomas Davis, born 1804 (Per 1850 Census), NC son of Clement & Elizabeth Davis. I believe he was the 20-30 yr old male in the 1830 Buncombe Co., North Carolina Census, with 1 male -5, 1 male 70-80, 1 female -5, 1 female 20-30, and 1 female (60-70 his mother Elizabeth) (pg. 294, line 10) (58).
Thomas was listed next in the 1840 Southern Division, Buncombe Co., North Carolina Census with 2 males 5-10, 1 male 10-15, 1 male 20-30, 2 females -5, 1 female 5-10, 1 female 15-20, 1 female 20-30 (59). On 07 Aug 1849, Thomas purchased land (unspecified) from Samuel Smith, Wit: James R. Roberts (287).
Thomas and his family were listed next in the 1850 Buncombe Co., North Carolina Census: Thos; 46, NC, Riley M.; 21, NC, Mitchell C.; 19, NC, Osborn F.; Jos. M.; 7, NC, Steph; 5, NC, Margaret L. (Roberts according to Jos. M's Death Certificate); 44, NC, Jemima C.; 15, NC, Sarah J(ane); 12, NC, Rachel R.; 11, NC, Mary; 9, NC (pg. 211, household 221) (189). On 13 Apr 1855, Jas Riley Roberts and Annais Roberts were bound to Thomas for the sum of $500.00 (286). It appears that Thomas may have died 1855-56 as his wife Margaret married next to Amraphael Ball in 1856 (377). On 01 Oct 1856 Margaret entered into an agreement with Amraphael Ball (marriage contract) that all her Estate both real and personal shall remain hers and her heirs forever (378).
William W. Davis
William W. Davis, born 1800, North Carolina (Per 1850 Census) the son of Meshack Davis was listed in the 1830 Buncombe Co., North Carolina Census with 2 males -5, 1 male 20-30, 1 female 20-30, living next door to Meshack (pg. 306, line 08) (58). On 02 Jan 1833, Reg on 25 Sep 1840,- Purchased 340 ac on Mills Creek in Henderson Co. on a Quit Claim (379). On 18 Apr 1839 there was a William W. Davis that was listed on a Bill of Sale for a slave named Clarborn (380).
I could not find William in the 1840 Census. On 17 Nov 1841 a William W. Davis purchased 271 acres of land on Pinner's Creek on the waters of Cane Creek joining lands of Daniel Blake and William Pinner from William S. Murray, Reg on 16 Nov 1843, Buncombe Co.(381).
William was listed in the 1850 Subdivision 33, Gilmer Co., Georgia Census: William; 50, NC, Ann; 47, NC, George W(esley); 20, NC, James H(ardin); 18, NC, Mitchel; 16, NC, Rachel; 14, NC, Sarah (Jane); 11, NC, Joseph (H.); 7, NC, Meshack; 104, PA (pg. 398b, household 709) (148). On 21 Oct 1851 a William W. Davis of Henderson Co. purchased 65 acres of land on Turnpike Road, mentions Murray's old line, Buncombe Co. (382). On 10 Sep 1851 William purchased 2 tracts of land equaling 325 acres. 1st tract mentioning Murray's old line and crossing the Buncombe Turnpike containing 60 acres, and the 2nd tract mentions Pinner's line, and Cane Creek, containing 271 acres lying in Buncombe and Henderson Co's, Reg 01 Jul 1852 Buncombe Co. (383).

William A. Davis
William A. Davis, born ca 1818, North Carolina, son of John Davis and Margaret Waggoner. He was mentioned in both of his parents Wills. His family was listed in the 1840 Southern Division, Buncombe Co., North Carolina Census with 1 male 20-30, and 1 female 20-30 (pg. 146, line 15) (59). On 27 Sep 1844 (Reg. on 27 Sep 1845), William and family along with his siblings; Elizabeth Fox and family, Margaret Cook and family, James Davis, and Martha Davis sold 100 acres of land on Reems creek to their brother Washington Davis, mentions No. West corner of 500 acres of land once belonging to Jacob Waggoner and granted to their father John Davis (282).
