Nicktoon Snark
As Television Without Pity likes to say, "Spare the snark, spoil the networks"
Pardon for the lack of style on this main page, we're just getting settled in. If you'd like to contribute your snarky recaps to the page, then contact me.

Here's what's up for offer so far:

Brother, can you spare us this lame plot?
All Grown Up!, "Brother, Can You Spare the Time?" - Note to writers: if you want a character's problem to be the main plot of an episode, make sure the character actually has that problem first. Meanwhile, Angelica becomes a teacher of fibbing to Chuckie, and somehow, that ties in to the main plot.

Un-bee-lievable!
Hey Arnold!, "Spelling Bee" - Why does Helga throw a still perfectly legitimate spelling bee in favor of Arnold? Why does no one notice that she deliberately misspelled her word? Why would a banner in front of a spelling bee "Welcome Speelers" to the event? Don't ask me, it's all in-X-plicable.

All T'd off
Hey Arnold! Extra: Codename: Kids Next Door, "Operation G.R.A.D.U.A.T.E.S." - Ben "Eugene" Diskin's got two characters on this show, but they spend about half of this episode as a hippo and a seal, courtesy of Maurice "Big Bob" LaMarche. This puts a damper on what should be the most important event of the series' run, and many fandom writings that stem from it. Read on to make sense of it all.

Ripoff artists!
All Grown Up!, "It's Karma, Dude!" - Susie, Susie, Susie. You don't even audition for a talent show, much less qualify, and get to perform away because the selected suddenly got zits and decided to give it to you, and then you don't even sing a "new" song. Ripoff artist! (Kicks Susie in the shin) Whoever wrote this story? Just because it worked on Hey Arnold! doesn't mean it'll work here, especially when you take out one important element of the Arnold version. Ripoff artist! (Kicks writer in the shin)

It's Phoebe, dude!
Hey Arnold!, "Phoebe Takes The Fall" - Dragging elitism into a storyline can be a big rip-off (Susie Carmichael, I'm looking in your direction)... or it can actually work in the story's favor, as this classic Purdy-penned piece proves. (Hey, alliteration!)

Big teeth, big screen, big trouble
The Wild Thornberrys Movie - With matters involving a kidnapped cheetah baby and a bunch of elephants, Klasky Csupo decides to shake up things between the Thornberry sisters, in their only movie that doesn't feature Tommy Pickles. Meanwhile, Rupert Everett and Marisa Tomei get involved in the most obviously telegraphed "plot twist" in Nicktoon history. But that aside, it's got pretty great music (especially from Paul Simon). Come along for a wild ride, won't you?

Rocket Power, "The Big Day" recaplet

All Grown Up!, "It's Cupid, Stupid" recaplet

The story of a future American Idol... and a presently idle American
All Grown Up!, "Susie Sings The Blues" - It's all about former underused Rugrat Susie in the series debut of All Grown Up!. Well, not really, since there's a good deal of Tommy and Chuckie in it too, but hey, having musical talent can only get you so far... as she's about to learn herself.

I simply don't believe it
Rocket Power, "Power Play" - Your guest stars are NHL stars Jeremy Roenick, Luc Robataille, and Martin Brodeur. The Rocket gang has an inline hockey team. So we're gonna be seeing the Rocket gang facing off against these guys, right? Hint: You sort of don't wanna know.

The Really Real World
All Grown Up!, "Truth or Consequences" - The late Mary-Ellis Bunim, of "The Real World" fame, made it big by filming people having arguments. So why isn't it working for Tommy? For starters, Bunim never cast her best friends.

The Amazing (-ly predictable) Race
Rocket Power, "Race Across New Zealand" - Otto is out to beat the son of some guy who beat his dad. Reggie is out to prove to the world that girls can be just as good as the boys. They can't both win, right? Well, you sort of don't wanna know. By the way, Phil Keoghan isn't in this ep, so you'll just have to make do with a hunky Maori native named Tatupu.
