Red XIII
Red XIII is a quiet lion-like creature. He is the last descendent of his tribe that vowed to protect Cosmo Canyon at all costs. His real name is Nanaki and has a mentor called Bugenhagen. This Bugenhagen (Which Red XIII calls grandpa) knows many things about the universe and helps you in your quest.

Level 1
Sled Fang
Red XIII charges at one enemy.
Lunatic High
Red XIII hastes the entire party.
Level 2
Blood Fang
Red XIII charges at an enemy and drains Hp and Mp.
Stardust Ray
Glittering stars fall on all enemies causing damage.
Level 3
Howling Moon
Red XIII casts haste on himself and goes berserk.
Earth Rave
Red XIII uses multiple magic attacks which damage all enemies.
Level 4
Cosmo Memory
Red XIII howls in the moonlight and fires a beam of fire to all enemies.
How to get Cosmo Memory

To get Cosmo Memory go to the Shinra Mansion in Nibelheim. Open the safe on the first floor with this code: 36,10,59,97. That is first right to 36, left to 10, right to 59 and right to 97. If you go over any of the numbers, you'll fail. Don't mind the 20 second time limit, just keep trying. Once the safe opens, defeat the monster that attacks you (Lost Number) and you'll receive Cosmo Memory (+ Odin materia and key to the basement).

Red XIII's Ultimate Weapon

Red XIII's best weapon is the Limited Moon. To get it, simply talk to Bugenhagen after he is back from the Ancient City. He fills ill and gives you the Limited moon.

Battle Tips

Setting speed

Remember that you can always adjust the speed of the battles. Go to the menu screen and select "Config". You can also select the order of materia use.

Pre-emptive Attacks

Sometimes, the enemies start behind your back. To quickly turn and lower their attacks press and hold the L and R buttons for a fraction of a second. Then let go. The characters will start running, but quickly turn around to face the enemy. Use the "9 and 3 key for PC version.

The Battle Arena

In the Gold Saucer is the Battle Arena. Here you can fight to earn Battle points. These points can be exchanged for good prizes. To fight, simply talk to the lady at the counter and pay 10 Gp to enroll. You'll have to face 8 enemies alone. If you win, you'll get Battle points. But after each round you'll get handicaps which make it harder to fight.
