Derek's Socks Cake

This is another "story" cake. It was for Derek's birthday and the dog is Socks, his dog. A month or two before, while everyone was away, Socks got into Talia's Barbie Dolls and chewed them apart. That is what is laying around the cake -- Barbie Doll parts, including one his mouth.

The following two pictures are of a race car cake we made for one of Patrick's birthdays. It is covered with fondant and then decorated and trimmed. The car says "Buck" on the back of it, my nickname for Pat, who was 3 years old at this party.

The dolphin cake on the right was the first cake I decorated as part of the classes we attended. It turned out pretty well for my first effort. I created a transfer of the dolphin from a coloring book.

Giant Food.

In celebration of a promotion in the Giant Food Company, we made this cake for Derek. The logo is a pretty good representation of the real thing.

This was one of Talia's birthday cakes. Another ballet theme. We put a pink fondant on the cake and darker fondant braid around the bottom. The only other decoration we put on was the dark pink flowers around the upper edge. Candy added the silk flowers; they matched other party decorations.

Another ballet theme.

The October 1998 Flower Cake.

In October, we celebrate birthdays for Curtis, Gail, and Candy; plus Candy and Derek's anniversary. We even squeeze in Curtis and Gail's anniversary, which is in early December, sometimes. This cake was simply decorated with a variety of flowers, but the cake had two layers of chocolate cake and one of carrot cake; it had an orange sauce between the layers and the frosting was chocolate with orange flavoring in it. Quite tasty!
