U.S. Nuclear Policy
Ever
since the Soviet Union added the atom bomb to their arsenal and soon the hydrogen bomb, it
was a great fear of every United States citizen that we would be a victim of a nuclear
attack. From that day on, the U.S. adopted a policy known as "massive
retaliation." This clearly means that if a country launches a nuclear attack on
the U.S., they better make sure it is a good one, because we will in return, use
everything in are arsenal, including nuclear weapons to demolish their country and make
sure that nothing is left standing. We maintain a hot line with other countries to
prevent a nuclear war by misunderstood intentions. However, if it is a true attack,
we have nuclear submarines ready to strike, minutemen missiles ready to launch from silo's
around the world, stealth bombers and fighters are ready to fly, and carriers are ready to
launch air strikes and cruise missiles. We have NORAD to insure that our
nuclear force can not be wiped out in a pre-emptive strike and within minutes of a hostile
launch, the National Command Authority and the President of the United States will
authorize a full retaliatory strike and it would all be under way! |
