This is my brother straight out of boot camp. He was home on leave before he was shipped out to Viet-Nam.
He had lost about 50-60 pounds at this time and was lean and mean and ready to do his duty for his Country.
We always had a strong sense of patriotism instilled in us; and he...rather than wait for his draft notice..went the day after he graduated Shady Spring High School and enlisted in the United States Marine Corps.
Mom, Dad and I were very proud of him...and terrified that we may lose him forever to an unpopular war in a foreign land.
Mom baked cookies and sent packages as often as she could get them together..and prayed he received them.
We were so happy when he got back home safe and sound....so many sons and brothers did not.
Just in no time at all after his return he and I married our respective choices of partners in a double ceremony held at our parents home with families only attending.
