	SAPPHIRE Sapphire has been associated with divine favor. The Buddhists believed that the sapphire favored devotion and spiritual enlightenment. It is the birthstone for the month of September. The ancient Greeks linked sapphire with Apollo, and wore it as an aid to prophecy when consulting oracles. For this reason, it is considered an aid for developing the "third eye". It was also considered to be able to guard its owner from being captured. It is worn and utilized in rituals to strengthen the ability to tap and send forth power. Sapphire has been use as an aide to healing ailments of the eyes. It is also considered a booster for the immune system, protecting the body in general from disease. Star sapphires are considered to be particularly potent and magical.

	SELENITE The name comes from the Greek [selenites], meaning, "moon stone". A Gypsum. White/clear striated crystals. Has been used to work against cancer and is known to stabilize epileptic disorders. Mental focus, growth, luck, immunity, kundalini. Centuries old record keepers of events/information. Smoothes emotions. Holding crystal, visualize it bringing white light/energy (higher ideas/consciousness) from transpersonal point above head down through body, out through feet into earth/physical plane. Place on 3rd eye for stored info. May help physical and emotional letting go. Repro; spine and nerve system, emotional and athletic flexibility. Sends healing to the earth. Expands sensitivity, field of awareness. Desert Rose: rose-like flower buds. Known to help new moms increase breast milk. Cunningham states "...it is exchanged between lovers for reconciliation." Stein mentions a case of using the stone, in a "lump" form for increasing milk flow in a nursing mother. Katrina Raphaell is the only other healer that I can reference that uses Selenite. She refers to it as a healer of the psyche, rather than of the physical dimension. Selenite can calm a confused mind. Because of it is Gypsum, and recommended for any calcium deficiency diseases or for healing broken bones. In the past, crystalline Selenite has been used to make eyeglass lenses. Long Selenite "wands" can be found. But caution is advised with this stone: because it is so soft and has high water content, it "bends" quite easily. Even the heat from your hand, while holding it can cause it to bend and curl. Strengthens bones, teeth. Soothes nerves. Has positive effect on brain, aiding power of concentration. Enhances willpower. Grounded white light.
	SEPTARIAN/LIGHTNING STONE Quartz, from eroded septarian nodule. This remarkable honeycomb-like structure began as a mud ball that dried, shrank, and cracked in a hexagonal pattern. Water that contained silica in solution infiltrated the cracks and deposited quartz crystals in them. Later, the clay eroded away, leaving behind the quartz framework. A concretion, roughly spherical in shape, usually of clay ironstone, and characterized by an internal structure of angular blocks separated by radiating mineral-filled blocks. The mineral filling the cracks is usually calcite. The structure results from the formation of a hard exterior to the nodule due to the development of an aluminous gel on the exterior, followed by dehydration of the colloidal mass (see Colloid) in the interior, leading to cracking and subsequent mineral infilling of the radiating pattern of cracks.
	SERPENTINE This stone is projective and promotes protection. Seals in ancient Assyria were made so the gods and goddesses would send double blessings. Its other use is to ward off poisonous creatures. Think about the fact when we leave our artificial environments we are subjected to nature in all its manifestations, including stinging creatures. Wearing serpentine you can prevent the misfortune of being stung. Serpentine helps the meditative state. It can be used to clear the clouded areas of the chakras and helps in the rise of the Kundalini. It can be used to help disorders in all areas of the body, the emotional system and the mental structure. Translucent pale green.
	SHAMAN STONES These strange Ironstone concretions are found at the base of the Navajo Sandstone formation. The Moqui Indians that inhabited the Southwest used these small balls for marble-like games and in slings for hunting. The centers are filled with hard packed sandstone and the outer surface is a composite of iron, phosphorus, and lime. How they were formed and what caused their unusual rounded shapes remains a puzzle. There are various theories as to their formation and some scientists believe them to be from 130 to 155 million years old. Their energies are somewhat like those of Boji Stones. Shaman Stones are highly protective, and will absorb negativity and replace it with useful energies. They are wonderful for healing, as their energies flow easily up the Chakra column. The first time I held one of these stones in my hand, I could not believe the energy I felt inside them! Meditations and spiritual journeys are greatly enhanced by holding a Shaman Stone in each hand. They may also be used to contact your animal spirits, totems, and guides, and to aid in shape shifting. Shaman Stones are equally balanced between grounding and energizing, and act as a connector to the Earth's energies.
	SODALITE Clears the mind for deeper and wiser thinking. Helps clear old mental patterns - guilt and fear. Helps connect your thoughts to your feelings. Strengthens the power of mind over body. Grounding for those who over- reacts emotionally. Throat stone. Stabilizes the thyroid. Helps one speak more and gain more confidence. Clears vision and opens third eye. Prolongs physical endurance. Aids in the manufacture of insulin to help stabilize diabetes. Healing, Meditation, Wisdom. General communication and writing stone. Logic, ideas, truth. Balances body energy levels via thyroid, pituitary, lymph, and other glands. 	STAR RUBY Known as the "star of purity", "star fire" or "ruby crystal" is said to promote dreaming and tends to stimulate connection between the self and your spirit guides. Used as a rod-like conductor, it provides the pathway from the user to the electrical and magnetic forces. It assists in purifying, and correcting disoriented energy, which leads to atrophy. It helps to align the aura and physical bodies as one. It is an excellent stone for releasing blocks, which keep you from a spiritual path.
STARRY JASPER STAR DIPOSIDE	STAR STONES Here star stones are referred to as [asterias.] The twelve-rayed star is the most rare, and therefore the most valuable. In most cases, star stones are produced as cabochons (that is, with a rounded top). It is important that these should be cut so that the star is exactly in the middle of the round stone. In the East, star stones and cat's-eyes are considered exceptionally lucky, especially in games of chance. They have also been used for scrying. In general, a stone displaying the star type chatoyancy is considered to be magically strengthened. A star in a sapphire increases the users ability to tap the subconscious/higher mind. A star ruby is considered to be a particularly potent protection against other forms of magic.
	STAUROLITE/FAIRY CROSS The name comes from the Greek [stauros], meaning 'cross'. Staurolite was considered to be a representative of all four elements: Air, Fire, Earth and Water. It was believed that a person who possessed this talisman could cause the elements to do his/her bidding. In addition, it was believed that the 90-degree cross-represented the crossing of the spiritual and physical planes. After the arrival of Christianity, these stones were popular with those who entered a crusade. Many people now days carry them as a good luck charm. These stones are twinned crystals, which form into equal-armed crosses or x-shapes. At least three presidents of the United States carried these, including Roosevelt, Wilson, and Harding. Staurolite crystals are thought to protect and guard against negativity. They are also worn to draw wealth and energize the sexual drive. Brown/gray, cross like extrusions. Represents four elements and joining of spirit with earth/matter. Spirituality, compassion, allowing ness, non-attachment; Focus centered on the Here and Now. This beautiful and rare stone crystallizes in the form of flat and short prismatic crystals with cruciform crossing. This mineral is a talisman of good luck! Historically, this stone said to be formed from the tears of fairies when they were brought the news of the death of Christ. This stone is said to provide a connection between the physical, astral and extra-terrestrial planes. It can provide an overpowering "release" in stressful situations and provides support, initiation and incentive in dealing with detrimental habits. Cunningham says, "To gain control over the elemental forces, wear a staurolite set in any electrum fashioned as a ring or pendant." I've been unable to find ANY reference to this stone used in healing. All references I've seen refer to it as protective, or lucky, or elemental.
	STILBITE Pale pink/gray/white. Pink is especially helpful with loving, creative energy, accepting ness, allowing ness, letting go, manifesting May vivify/heighten physical senses, esp. taste. Detoxifies. Gentle self-expression.
	SUGILITE (LUVULITE) Third eye activator. Opens the connection between mind and body. It attunes one to their mental body to see what is creating the physical problem and in doing so; gain the healing power necessary to balance the physical body. Helps spiritually oriented individuals' deal with the sometimes-overwhelming negative energies present on the planet. A stone to use for children to keep the innocence, wisdom, and magic of the child's world as they grow into adulthood. Also used to re-awaken those qualities in adults. Helps one connect with their inner light. Helps cancer patients release the old angers, resentments, fears, guilt's, frustrations, sorrows, or insecurities that manifested the disease. 	SUNSTONE INCREASES; vitality DECREASES; fears, sore throat, ulcers, rheumatism. BALANCES; feet, spine, cartilage. Sunstone derives its name from its appearance: Its bright golden orange flash reminds us of the Sun's rays. Magicians used sunstone in the past, to invoke the energies associated with the Sun. There is very little data available on ancient usages. This is probably because the stone is rare. Honors the Creator, energizes and empowers one's self.
