Note: The term 'Squat' is actually a misnomer - this is considered a derogatory term by the Daewar andwas assigned to the people of the Homeworlds by Rogue Trader Dauson and then the Inquisition. The Squat's themselves prefer the term Daewar, named after the famous hero Daeson Warigul who saved his people from the Ork invasion of Grunhag the flayer.

Daewar are an ancient race, with roots stretching back to the beginning of man's exploration of space. Herein can be found the history of the Daewar, and the important people and events which has resulted in the Daewar of today.

Unlike the Imperium Daewar have an almost unbroken record of their history. Due to both the ancient records stored in each Stronghold and the memories of the Living Ancestors they are well aware of their history, and as such hold deep grudges against those who have wronged or betrayed them in the past.

Daewar history can be divided into five main periods, and they are detailed as follows:
