Note: The term 'Squat' is actually a misnomer -
this is considered a derogatory term by the Daewar andwas assigned to the people of the Homeworlds by Rogue Trader
Dauson and then the Inquisition. The Squat's themselves prefer the
term Daewar, named after the famous hero Daeson Warigul who saved his
people from the Ork invasion of Grunhag the flayer.
Daewar are an ancient race, with roots stretching
back to the beginning of man's exploration of space. Herein can be
found the history of the Daewar, and the important people and events
which has resulted in the Daewar of today.
Unlike the Imperium Daewar have an almost unbroken
record of their history. Due to both the ancient records stored in
each Stronghold and the memories of the Living Ancestors they are well
aware of their history, and as such hold deep grudges against those who
have wronged or betrayed them in the past.
Daewar history can be divided into five main
periods, and they are detailed as follows:
Additionally, Daewar have a unique society
which has evolved with them through the years. Unfortunately I
have yet to re-write and expand upon it, until then here is an
excerpt from an article from White Dwarf 111, by Nigel Stillman,
Brian Ansell and Graeme Davis.
Note: Although they are based on events
described in Games Workshop publications, these documents have been
written by myself, so please do not place them on other sites without my
permission.
