Oct. 2014:
  • Added a new method for re-hosing the hydrolastic displacers, thanks to Ian Gaffney in London.  You'll find more info and photos, here: Technical Advice: Susp/Brakes/Steering 
  • Updated information regarding the availability of steering rack bushings now that the original BTA-0795 nylon bushings are no longer available.  You can find that info near the bottom of the  Technical Advice: Susp/Brakes/Steering page.
  • Updated information for door/side window/trunk weatherstripping, along with front and back glass seals, and front door wing window seals to the Parts Sources page.

  • Added Dennis Twigg's beautiful 1969 America to the Classified Ads page.  If you're looking for an Austin America for sale, this is definately one worth considering, and the price is right!
  • Still selling viton valve stem seals for A-series engines and A+ series engines, as used in the Austin America 1275cc, the MG1100 1098cc, the Mini and Morris Minor with their 850cc, 998cc, and even the Metro Turbo engines.  I also have viton valve stem seals for the MGB 1800cc engine, and other vintage British iron, like the Spitfire, TR6, TD, etc.
  • Added a fantastic new method of repair the Hydrolastic Displacer Unit hoses to the Technical Advice: Susp/Brakes/Steering page.  It is "Method #1" and was sent to me by ADO-16 owner Gordon in the UK.  Thanks again Gordon!!

  • Added instructions for repairing the locking ignition switches that were used in the 1970 and 1971 year model cars to the Technical Advice: Electrical System page.  I have a lock shop in town who has the correct key blanks and can make keys if you have a lock that doesn't have any keys.  I can also repair the ignition switch assembly if you don't want to take on such a project.  Email me for more info and a price.

Dec. 2007:

  • Dick Elg of San Diego, CA has provided a short story for the Memories page.  Dick states he sold the very first Austin America in the United States!
  • Dick Elg supplied a great tip for preventing/solving the nagging leak that can occur between the crankshaft and torque convertor on the AP Automatic Transmission.  Check the Technical Advice: AP Automatic Transmission page for details.

November 2006:

  • Leo & Sandy Etienne in British Columbia Canada have there 1969 Austin America Pickup truck conversion up for sale.  This was originally a manual transmission car, but Leo's had it converted to an automatic.  See more in the Classified Ads
  • Happy 44th Birthday to the 1100 line!!  That's right, the Morris 1100 was the first 1100 model built and it debuted on August 14, 1962.  August 14th just happens to be my daughter's birthday.....I'll bet you're wondering how I pulled that off?

 
May 2006:
  • Michael Gibson of the Seattle, Washington area is selling his 1969 Automatic America.  This was a southern California car until he purchased it in 2002. It's straight, 100% original and free of rust.  If you're looking for an easy restoration, you'll not find a nice car. More info on the Classified Ads page.

  • Ron Lix of the Toronto, Canada area is selling his 1969 Riviear Blue Automatic America.  Ron's put a 1986 Rover Mini A+ engine and automatic transmission in this car and it's been his daily driver.  Great opportunity to pick up a car that's "turn key."  More info on the Classified Ads page.  Ron also has quite a cashe of NOS parts for sale as well!

  • Updated the 12" tire information on the Parts Sources page.   The Korean made "Kumho" brand is what's largely available now and http://www.tirerack.com/ is one of the best sources.  Firestone dealers can also get a 12" tire, but it's not a Firestone.

  • Yet another month has come and gone.  I'm still burried in projects and now Kate has started Kindergarten too!  I see a scary trend developing here. 

August 2004:
  • Remember August 14th is the 42nd anniversary of the launch of the ADO-16's.  The Morris 1100 4 door was the first model sold, followed by the MG 1100 4 door...and the rest is history!
  • Ty & Carolyn Jones of Fort Collins, Colorada have purchased car #19 from Fred Collier.  They are doing a wonderful job of getting it cleaned up and back into shape.  Ty's photo with his shiny new America is now posted on the "Register Member's" page.
  • Earl Sharpe, from New Brunswick, Canada has joined the Register as car #27.  Welcome Earl and thanks for the great photo which has also been added to the "Register Member's" page.
July 2004:
  • Well, please accept my apology for the lack of updates in July.  This month, along with the Summer, have gone by in a flash.  I'm burried in projects including the painting of our 100 year old Queen Anne Victorian.  I hope I'll have more time in August.
