DOLLY WAS ADOPTED JULY 14, 2002!
UPDATE:
Thank you so much for bringing Pepper ( we renamed her) into our lives.  We all love her to death.  She didn't really answer to any name so Adam renamed her Pepper ( because she's black) and believe it or not she answered to it immediately.  She is such a joy.  She's very good. We've only had a couple of  accidents in the beginning and I think that was because no one let her out.  She goes in her crate at night but lately she cries because she misses human contact.  As soon as our cat gets used to her Pepper will be sleeping in someones bed.  This is up for grabs because everyone wants her. She will probably sleep in Adams room.  The neighbors also love her.  Our cat is slowly coming downstairs and watching us with the dog.  I believe things will be fine with the two of them.  Thank you so much for all your help and for being so dedicated to saving dogs lives.  I hate to think where Pepper would be if it weren't for you and Vicky.  My dad is coming up this weekend to meet Pepper.  He has gotten her some toys. Be assured that she is well loved and well taken care off.

DOLLY'S STORY:
Dolly was destined to live out her life at the end of a chain.  It would have been a short life because her owners never paid attention to her nor gave her food or water.  She survived simply because caring people would feed her.  Dolly longed for human attention and from trying to reach people, her collar dug into her neck and caused an injury.  Concerned people complained to animal control officials and at long last, Dolly was rescued from her life of misery.  Dolly blossomed in foster care where she put on weight, had her injuries taken care of and was relieved of fleas and worms.  She is surprisingly well behaved in the house.  Dolly obviously did not have the opportunity to learn the finer points of doggie etiquette from the end of her chain so she has started training in foster care.  She is being crate trained, is learning to walk nicely on a leash, and to sit for treats.  She learns quickly and is making very good progress.  Dolly prefers to be where people are.  She has been so starved for attention that she now absorbs all she can.  She would do well having another dog as a friend and she is fine with cats.  Dolly will require an endless supply of tennis balls and squeaky toys - she LOVES them!  Dolly is 1-2 years old and weighs 20 pounds.
