SUMMER WAS ADOPTED AUGUST 3, 2002!

UPDATE:
I just wanted to say thank you again for rescuing Summer.  She is an awesome little girl and we're already head over heels in love with her.  Our first night together went very well.  Other than the little accident she had when we first got home - she ran around the house like a tornado and piddled in the corner - things have been great.  She loves her toys, goes right in the cage (all on her own) and lets us know when she's got to go outside.

We found a name hat she actually seems to like.  Summer is now officially known as Melody.  She has a tag and everything.  We called her Melody and her ears perked right up.  She wags her tail, looks right at you and comes running when we call her.  We were so glad to find a name that she identifies with.

Speaking of cute, every time we meet people on our (frequent) walks, they all flip over her.  She's a very popular girl.  In fact, she wants to say something.

I don't know what that means, but my guess is "thank you for taking care of me and finding me these nice people."  But that's just a guess.

We'll email pictures as soon as we can.  Until then, keep in touch.  We sure will.

SUMMER'S STORY:
Summer is 7 months old and weighs 35 pounds. She is a very sweet and easy-going girl who had a rough start in life. She had been picked up as a stray by animal control with a collar that was way too small embedded into her neck. That has now healed and soon her hair will grow back in to cover her scar. Summer gets along well with other dogs but prefers that they are not overly rambunctious as that scares her and sends her running for cover. Summer has been around kittens in her foster home and she is very gentle with them.
