JEREMIAH

December 15
Read: Jeremiah 31: 31-34
Symbol: Word of God

Jeremiah was known as the weeping prophet. He prophesied during the period that God's people were taken captive and the kingdom was destroyed. The destruction of Jerusalem and Solomon's temple was a terrible time for God's people.
In a vision Jeremiah saw the Presence of God depart from the people because they had turned to other gods. However, he also foretold of a time when God's Presence would again dwell with men and a new covenant would be established in which God would write the law upon men's hearts instead of upon stone tablets.
When Jesus died for us, he died a spiritual death in our place and took the punishment for our sins. When we receive Jesus as our Lord and Savior, God dwells within us and the law of love is written on our hearts. When Jesus lives in us, we become the temple and He makes Himself known to us through His Word.

Prayer: Thank You, Father that Jesus lives in me and I have become the temple of the Holy Spirit.

If you have never asked Jesus to be your Lord and Savior and to come to live within you, pray this prayer right now:
Jesus, I know that You are God's Son and that You died for me so that I could belong to You and God the Father. I know that sin separates me from You. Please come into my heart, forgive my sin and dwell in me. I give You my life and ask You to live Your life through me. Amen.

31:31
Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah:
31:32
Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of
Egypt; which my covenant they brake, although I was an husband unto them, saith the LORD:
31:33
But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law in their
inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people.
31:34
And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the LORD: for they shall all know me,
from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the LORD: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.
